The nation was shocked today — if that’s even possible at this point in the election — by the news the FBI is reopening its investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email server, a development which left conservatives nationwide thrilled. One person it didn’t thrill was Hillary herself.
Clinton’s campaign finally responded to the news, calling the FBI’s actions “extraordinary.”
Actually, what’s truly “extraordinary” is that Hillary isn’t behind bars already.
According to The Blaze, Hillary Clinton aide John Podesta fired back a response to today’s bombshell revelation by the FBI that the agency plans to reopen its investigation into the Democratic presidentail nominee’s emails. The Clinton aide was defiant, criticizing the characterization of the FBI’s plan as “reopening” anything.
FBI Director [James] Comey should immediately provide the American public more information than is contained in the letter he sent to eight Republican committee chairmen. Already, we have seen characterizations that the FBI is “reopening” an investigation but Comey’s words do not match that characterization. Director Comey’s letter refers to emails that have come to light in an unrelated case, but we have no idea what those emails are and the Director himself notes that they may not even be significant.
Podesta himself weighed in saying, “It is extraordinary that we should see something like this just 11 days out from a presidential election.”
Actually, it’s extraordinary that we have a candidate for the highest office in the land — the world — who is under FBI investigation for the second time.Hillary’s VP pick, Tim Kaine, decided to dodge commenting on the news, as The Washington Examiner reports, only saying, “gotta’ read a little more, gotta’ read a little more.”
Guess the highly orchestrated and scripted campaign was indeed caught off guard by today’s news as they clearly hadn’t gotten their talking points distributed yet to the team.Yes, it is an extraordinary development — but only the latest in an extraordinary drama where the Democratic nominee has clearly broken federal law, yet has not only managed to avoid being held accountable, she’s continued on her road to the White House.
Let’s hope Hillary is actually held accountable for her actions this time and isn’t just let off the hook again.
Hillary Clinton herself took to the podium late Friday to address the news.
She claimed today was the first her team had heard of the new allegations — which actually may be believable given how unprepared her team actually seemed today. She also seemed to diminish the news as “rumors,” while calling on the FBI to release more information immediately.
“We have not been contacted by anyone. First we know about is when I assume you knew about it.” (Sounding awfully like Obama here — “heard about it on the news.”)
“We don’t know what to believe and I’m sure there will be even more rumors.” (Gosh, kinda how the American public feels about everything coming from Hillary and her team — or the Obama administration for that matter.]
“We are calling on the FBI to release all the information that it has.” (So, maybe the State Department should go ahead and release all the info it has — and has been stonewalling on Hillary’s behalf for years now?)
Clinton closed with a hint of what her key talking point around this latest scandal will be — pointing to the FBI sending its letter today only to a group of Republicans. Team Hillary brushing off that “right-wing conspiracy” talking point?
Too bad that’s a lie that already been busted:
Fact check: Contrary to what Clinton said, Comey sent letter to both Republicans and Democrats on Capitol Hill. @benyc
