If there’s anything to be learned from many of the recent Black Lives Matter inspired riots, it’s that the circumstances of a police shooting no longer matter. The cases of Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown weren’t the cases of martyrdom the Left wanted them to be, but at least there was some ambiguity at first that could justify some outrage. Both were unarmed, but other parts of the liberal narrative ended up breaking down as the investigations into those shootings unfolded.
Now look at recent shootings, like those of Sylville Smith in Milwaukee and Keith Lamont in Charlotte.
Both men were armed with illegally-obtained firearms, and both were black men killed by black police officers. But did that matter? Nope – the narrative of “systemic racism” somehow still prevailed throughout all this. The sister of Smith encouraged rioters to burn down the suburbs, and Scott’s brother informed us that all white people are “f***ing devils.”
The facts don’t matter to BLM, but the consequences of their fact-free crusade are very real for police. The following story is a reminder of what happens when officers are afraid to use force, because they fear outrage from groups like BLM more than being savagely beaten and killed.Via PJ Media
A Chicago police officer, who knew she needed to shoot a violent assailant high on PCP but didn’t because she feared a backlash, is now recovering in a hospital after the savage beating that ensued.
Police have released harrowing footage of the incident.
The issue has become known as the Ferguson effect, named after the St. Louis suburb where a police officer shot and killed an unarmed black teenager in August 2014. The shooting set off protests and riots that summer and eventually gave way to a fevered national debate over race and policing. Many law enforcement officers have said that the intense focus on policing in the time since has put them on the defensive and hindered their work.”The 43-year-old officer, who is still unidentified, was responding to a car crash Wednesday when a 28-year-old man who was involved in the accident punched her in the face, according to Johnson, who is black.
Johnson said the suspect repeatedly smashed the officer’s head against the pavement in an attack that went on for several minutes. Two other officers were injured as they attempted to pull the suspect off the officer. They also wound up in the hospital after being assaulted by the drug-addled perp. The suspect was finally subdued after officers tasered and pepper-sprayed him.
How much do you want to bet there would still be a riot had this officer shot the suspect even after being savagely beaten?
