Every time endure the national tragedy of a mass shooting (except in Chicago – those folks don’t count), the Second Amendment comes under intense fire itself. After Omar Mateen killed 49 people at the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, FL, leftists had a field day coming up with new Twitter hashtags, like #MakeItHappen, to call for a ban on assault rifles — particularly the AR-15 — and for more gun control measures in general.
CBS News decided to get in on the gun-hate doing a segment to try proving how easy it is to purchase an AR-15 rifle from a gun shop.
Well, how they went about doing this may end up costing them big time, as the owner of the store where the firearm was purchased is claiming CBS committed a “straw purchase” — which could potentially be a felony.
TheBlaze reports, In an anti-gun segment intended to show how easy it is to purchase an AR-15 rifle, CBS reporter Paula Reid bought the firearm at SpecDive Tactical and then transferred the gun to a “federally licensed firearms dealer” just a few hours later.Ryan Lamke, general manager of SpecDive, told the Washington Free Beacon Reid paid for the rifle with cash, claiming she planned to “undergo training.” He claimed the reporter “refused basic, free instruction of firearms safety under the pretense that she was using the firearm for training with a NRA certified instructor.”
“Due to the information provided in the CBS News report filed today, I suspect Ms. Reid committed a straw purchase and procurement of a firearm under false pretenses,” he added.
The owner of the gun shop, Jerry Rapp, echoed Lamke’s statements, saying an individual is guilty “trying to bypass the legal pathway to firearms ownership” when he or she “knowingly” tries to buy a gun with the “intent of giving it to another person.” He called it a “very serious crime.”Rapp accused CBS News of “potentially committing a felony just to boost their ratings and mislead the general public.”
Reid went on to defend her purchase via Twitter:
According to the Virginia State Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, it’s not clear as of now whether any laws were broken.
It’s sad to say, but it appears liberals will absolutely stop at nothing — including breaking the law — to succeed in their goal of placing restrictions on American citizens’ Second Amendment rights.
The left claims they want terrorist attacks to stop, but they continue to — willfully, it seems — blame these tragedies on the wrong thing.
Guns aren’t the problem. People are the problem.
Particularly radical Islamic terrorism.
If they spent half as much time developing a strategy for stopping ISIS and other groups as they do trying to take away guns, the world would be a much safer place.
The truth is, liberals, particularly in the media, are simply pushing the progressive agenda, helping politicians in power get what they want by swaying public opinion in their favor so voters will put pressure on elected officials to pass gun control.
Meanwhile, radical Islamic ideology is spreading fast around the globe, poisoning minds and inspiring horrific acts of murder.
The question to ask now is how many more people have to die before the right steps are taken to actually end this threat?
