Just moments after Sen. Ted Cruz announced he would suspend his bid for the GOP nomination, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus called on the party to unite behind what he called the presumptive nominee, Donald Trump.
Donald Trump echoed the chairman’s comments as he addressed supporters following his big win in Indiana tonight, as The Hill reports:
“We want to bring unity to the Republican Party.”Oh hey, wait, was there someone else still in the race for the GOP nomination?
Hmm, let me think… um… help me out here. Oh yeah, THAT guy, the one who is still lagging in delegates behind the guy who suspended his campaign more than a month ago?
Lest we forget he’s still around, Gov. John Kasich’s campaign responded to the RNC chairman’s call for unity.
Wow. Just wow.
So we have Sen. Ted Cruz, who had a far more viable path to the nomination, suspend his campaign and open the path for the party to begin mending fences and focus on uniting against our common opponent — the Democrat nominee — and winning in November. It would appear Cruz has chosen to put the party first, now that he no longer sees a viable path.
Meanwhile, who do you think Gov. John Kasich is thinking of here?To be clear, I’m in no way suggesting the RNC chair should be the ultimate arbiter; however, sure seems like the GOP voters have been pretty clear about how they feel about Gov. Kasich.
If he would only listen.
