When a liberal supports a “compassionate” policy, look for the ulterior motive. How convenient is it for Democrats that they can be “compassionate” to illegal immigrants – who they’d love to naturalize not to improve their lives, but to add to the base of Democrat voters.
The same is true of “free” college. Not only does Sanders hope to draw in liberal voters, he wants to churn out more. According to NPR:
A report from the Pew Research Center finds a wide partisan gap between highly educated and non-highly-educated Americans. Not only that, but the share of college grads and post-graduates who are “consistently liberal” (based on their answers to a series of policy questions) has grown sharply in the last 20 years.
Does this mean conservatives are dumber? Of course not. There are nearly five times as many college graduates who describe themselves as “consistently” liberal since 1994, and there’s nothing to indicate that today’s college students are any brighter than those in the nineties.
In 1994, 7 percent of post-grads were “consistently liberal,” and 1 percent of people with high school educations or less were — not much of a difference. Today, the gap is 25 points wide — 31 percent of people with post-grad educations are consistently liberal, compared to 5 percent of those with high school educations or less.
The same kind of change just hasn’t happened on the conservative side.Split it out by party, and the shift is even starker. Among the post-grad set, more than half of Democrats and Democratic-leaners today are “consistently liberal,” up from fewer than one-in-five in 1994. Likewise, among college grads, it jumped from 12 to 47.
But frankly, our colleges have become “liberal factories” where education has been replaced with indoctrination. As the Washington Post reports, professors have become strikingly more liberal. In 1990, according to survey data by the Higher Education Research Institute (HERI) at UCLA, 42 percent of professors identified as “liberal” or “far-left.” By 2014, that number had jumped to 60 percent.
is it any wonder now that we’re being inundated with progressive college cupcakes in tears over “safe spaces” and “microagressions?” Look who they have as role models!
I’ll leave you with this quote from Thomas Sowell: “Too much of what is called ‘education’ is little more than an expensive isolation from reality.”
