The feud between Megyn Kelly and Donald Trump began as early as the first Republican debate, and it hasn’t let up since.Kelly has reported receiving death threats against her and her family due to the feud. That may be part of the reason she’s revealed she may not continue with Fox after her contract expires next year.
Via the Washington Times:
Megyn Kelly said she hasn’t decided whether she’s going to stay with the network after her contract expires next year.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen,” Kelly told Variety in an interview published Tuesday. “I’ve had a great 12 years here, and I really like working for Roger Ailes. I really like my show, and I love my team. But you know, there’s a lot of brain damage that comes from the job. There was probably less brain damage when I worked in the afternoon. I was less well known. I had far less conflict in my life.”Then came up the Trump issue:
“It has not been enjoyable,” she said. “I wish it hadn’t happened. I hope it will stop — his focus on me. If he’s determined not to stop, there’s nothing I can do. I don’t like being the story. I think it raises real First Amendment issues.”
Ms. Kelly told Variety that she has felt supported by Fox News, noting that the network “has been in a tough position. They care about me and they are not afraid of a fight, but we’re in uncharted territory.”She said she’s had “many conversations” with Mr. Ailes about the situation, which has “been hard on him, too.”
In a separate interview with Charlie Rose, Kelly stated that she’d rather not leave Fox News and would like to “add to what [she’s] doing,” but not if it becomes at the expense of time with her family. Hopefully she sticks around — her interviews with a potential President Trump sure would be entertaining.[Note: This post was authored by The Analytical Economist]
