How clueless are these people?? I (Michele Hickford) will happily admit I am firmly in the anti-establishment wing of the GOP. Like many Americans, this anger has been quietly simmering for some time and now has reached boiling point.I was fortunate enough to serve in Col. Allen West’s congressional district office when he represented Florida’s 22nd District from 2010 to 2012. Admittedly, I did not have a front-row seat, but I was close enough to the action to see how the game was being played.
It was during that time I realized the D.C. establishment (no matter which party) would do whatever it needed to retain power – say anything, do anything, promise anything. It was repulsive then and it’s repulsive now.Had the GOP establishment given a crap about the electorate in the last 8 or so years, perhaps it would not be facing the possibility of Donald Trump or Ted Cruz as the nominee. Cruz seems to have none too many friends in the establishment, but he clearly is not as terrifying to the old guard as Donald Trump.
In fact, it now appears the GOP establishment doesn’t even really want to win the White House after all – if it’s a President Trump – because all the rules will change and their business-as-usual network will fall apart.
But I’m not making any wild speculation here…just listen to what the so-called “leaders” are saying themselves. Exhibit A (and you, my fellow Americans, can decide what that “A” stands for) is Senator Lindsey Graham.Per the Washington Examiner, South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham said Sunday that winning the 2016 presidential election should take a back seat to stopping Donald Trump from destroying the Republican Party by becoming its presidential nominee.
“We can lose an election, but I don’t want us to lose our heart and soul,” Graham said Sunday on CBS’ “Face the Nation.” “If we nominate Donald Trump, and he carries the banner of the Republican Party, given who he is and what he said about immigrants, about Muslims and young women, we will not just lose the election. We have lost the heart and soul of the conservative movement. That’s what is at stake.”
Unfriggingbelievable. We can spend hours debating Donald Trump’s conservative bona fides. But there can be no debate that a Hillary Clinton presidency will be disastrous for this nation.
No Senator Graham, YOU and your cronies don’t give a rat’s ass if the GOP loses this election because your cozy junket life goes on no matter what. We on the other hand, the poor schlubs who have to make an actual living, are the ones who must contend with the liberal progressive destruction of our nation.
Sorry. I just needed to get that off my chest.[Note: This article was written by a very testy Michele Hickford]
