The left’s blatant hypocrisy is no surprise. It’s maddening, of course, but every now and then it goes so far as to be flat-out funny. Like MSNBC’s Chris Matthews’ suggestion last night that he’d like to use a lie detector on GOP presidential candidate Ted Cruz over his suggestions that media outlets may be withholding stories about rival Donald Trump.Via The Blaze:
Cruz recently claimed that members of the press are withholding unflattering stories about his GOP rival Donald Trump in order to run them in the general election should the Manhattan billionaire become the Republican nominee.“I think an awful lot of reporters, I can’t tell you how many media outlets I hear, you know, have this great exposé on Donald, on different aspects of his business dealings or his past, but they said, ‘You know what? We’re going to hold it to June or July,’” Cruz said during an interview on CBS’ “Face The Nation” Sunday.
“And all of the attacks on Donald that the media is not talking about now, you’d better believe come September, October, November — if he were the nominee — every day on the nightly news would be taking Donald apart,” he added.
Cruz concluded, “Donald may be the only person on the face of the planet that Hillary Clinton can beat.”Matthews called it a “wild allegation” with “no evidence.”
“I would love to know why we can’t use, occasionally, lie detectors,” Matthews said.
Matthews claimed that Cruz was asserting a “fact,” not a matter of political philosophy. “Who is this major news organization group that’s sitting on all the dirt?” Matthews asked.Well, one the comes to mind off the bat is the NY Times, who “leaked” the suggestion that GOP frontrunner Donald Trump said he would be willing to negotiate on immigration — undermining one the candidate’s key pillars of popularity.
If Ted Cruz is lying, then shame on him. As we said earlier today, let’s leave the lying to the Dems.
But whatever the case, Matthews’ comments are laughable — as in LMAO — for so many reasons. I know there are still people on this planet naive enough to believe that the media is unbiased, but Chris “Thrill up my leg” Matthews surely isn’t one of them. It’s resoundingly clear that media outlets have their own agendas, try as they might to dress them up as “reporting.” Just last week, MSNBC gave us one of the more embarrassing (for them) examples, as they tried to push their race-baiting agenda but ended up with foot in mouth. Yeah, that was awkward.
To suggest the media doesn’t use its position — including the timing of its reporting — to influence political outcomes is totally disingenuous. Perhaps Chris Matthews himself could use a run through the ol’ lie detector?
If the likes of Chris Matthews and MSNBC are so keen on ferreting out lies, perhaps they’d like to sit Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton down with the lie detector first. Of course, a working lie detector might just malfunction from overload coming in close proximity to either of them — or MSNBC itself, for that matter. SMH.
