Yesterday, Hillary Clinton delivered a “national security” address at the University of Minnesota. It appears if she were president, she would consent to granting ISIS sanctuary, as in her comments, Clinton articulated what she would NOT do.Her approach is similar to what President Obama presents — just like his strategy of airstrikes, special operations, and supporting “coalition” partners. Ladies and gents, that strategy hasn’t worked – quite obviously. So now I know whom ISIS will be pulling for in the 2016 election. Last night’s GOP presidential debate centered on national security; there’s a reason why the issue of national security/Islamic terrorism is now the number one concern for the American people.
As reported by Fox News, “The Pentagon delivered a warning Tuesday about the growth of the Islamic State offshoot in Afghanistan, saying the branch has become “more operationally active” there by carving out territory and openly fighting the Taliban. The Defense Department report also said violence in Afghanistan overall is on the rise and the security situation has worsened since June, with more effective attacks by insurgents and increased casualties among Afghan security forces.
The DOD said advances by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) – Khorasan Province (IS-KP) in particular could stoke “increased violence” with other extremist groups in 2016. IS-KP “has progressed from its initial exploratory phase to a point where they are openly fighting the Taliban for the establishment of a safe haven, and are becoming more operationally active,” the report said.
The warning comes as President Obama tries to assure the public about the administration’s strategy for fighting the Islamic State, a military operation that focuses on Iraq and Syria.”
You might recall Obama last Christmas in Hawaii, speaking at Marine Corps Base Kaneohe Bay, lauding that we were ending our combat operations in Afghanistan. President Obama proclaimed the same in his State of the Union address back in January of this year. Sadly, someone didn’t get that memo. The jayvee team that is contained has an expanding footprint and no amount of staged photo op press conferences or reading from a prepared script can abrogate the fact of Obama’s failure in the area of national security.
Here’s the deal in the combat zone where combat operations have ended. We currently have a company of U.S. Army Rangers there conducting operations in Helmand and Kandahar provinces — and they don’t deploy to play laser tag or train indigenous forces.
Foreign Internal Defense (FID) is a U.S. Army Special Operations (Green Beret) mission. Rangers deploy to kill folks. This year there have been 916 combat airstrikes in the place where combat operations have ended. And sadly, in the place where combat operations have ended, fourteen Americans have lost their lives. We don’t hear anything from the liberal progressive media about Afghanistan. Ask yourself why?The number one responsibility of the office of the president of the United States is commander in chief, national security. It is not healthcare provider or EBT card issuer in chief, but it seems the current progressive socialist administration occupying the White House has somehow conflated those duties with what should be its actual raison d’être.
And based on the Monday Pentagon kabuki dance by President Obama, his policy is to continue to do nothing while telling us he’s doing something. I couldn’t care less about the names of eight folks who are dead he read off like he was reading a bedtime story. Killing Osama bin Laden did nothing to deter al-Qaida. So killing eight fellas and talking about “you’re next” will not deter a global Islamic jihadist ideological movement. And certainly telling the enemy, as Hillary Clinton did in Minnesota, “we will not get involved in a major ground operation in the Middle East because that’s what ISIS wants” — hmm, let me carefully analyze this. If the enemy says they want to fight us, we believe not doing so gives us some moral high ground?I remember when now retired and former Army Chief of Staff General Gordon Sullivan was my commanding general of the First Infantry Division in Ft. Riley, Kansas. Then Major General Sullivan had a saying, “If you want to pick a fight, you came to the right place.” And our motto in the historic and venerable “Big Red One” was “No mission too difficult, no sacrifice too great…Duty first!”
So, as we progress through this 2016 presidential election, just ask yourself as you survey the field, which of these candidates understands and embodies the motto of the Big Red One? Which of these candidates understands the historical significance of the British forces who marched out of Boston towards Lexington Green and instead of the Minutemen, the patriots, saying, “the British are coming and they want to fight so we shall not” they met them and stood.
I find it so very disconcerting that we have folks so concerned about not offending a certain demographic they become paralyzed and incapable of doing what Americans pride themselves on — fighting tyranny. We shared with you the recent story of ISIS issuing a fatwa to kill handicapped and disabled children. Perhaps one of the reasons that doesn’t inspire the liberal progressive left to do anything is because, based on what’s been happening in Ohio with Planned Parenthood, they are of similar minds?
We’ve seen this type of evil before, and it must be defeated. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton will not do so; who will?
As it says in Isaiah 6:8 (NIV), “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
Who will America send to the White House to defend our honor? The men and women of our military are itching for the fight. They whipped the precursor to ISIS, al-Qaida in Iraq — they can whip these guys. And if we elect the right leader, they’ll send the Islamic jihadists to their perverted and demented version of paradise.
