While we were enjoying our Thanksgiving meal, the Fiscal Year 2016 National Defense Authorization Act was finally signed. President Obama did issue a signing statement that expressed his disagreement on being restricted from closing the Guantanamo Bay detention facility. President Obama continues to tell himself that ISIS, a la militant Islamic jihadists, use GITMO as a recruiting tool.Perhaps, Mr. President, you should go back and read some history — Brian Kilmeade’s new book is a good start — and realize that even the Dey of Algiers expressed the main reason why Islamic terrorists and jihadists have fought against America, and Western civilization since the 8th century. The Dey of Algiers told Thomas Jefferson and John Adams in Paris in the 1790s that they were commanded to do so – and there was no GITMO then.
There was no GITMO when the U.S. Embassy was attacked and our hostages held in Iran. There was no GITMO when 234 American Marines, Sailors, and Soldiers lost their lives in Beirut. There was no GITMO when the USS Cole was bombed, the U.S. Embassies in Africa were attacked, the Khobar Towers…no Mr. President, there was no GITMO.
GITMO is not a recruiting tool for Islamic jihadists; our existence is what fuels them based on what they are commanded to do in their book, the Koran, by their leader, Mohammad. And it is unconscionable that you’d want to release these jihadists or bring them to the United States, unlawful enemy combatants, who wish to kill us. It is unbelievable that you, a president of these United States, would want to grant these savages American rights, which they, in no uncertain terms, do not deserve.
But now, news of the most recent Obama administration threat against our governors, and America, just leaves me shaking my head in disgust.Hat tip to our friends at the Washington Examiner who report, “The federal government shot a warning to state resettlement officials, telling them they do not have the authority to deny the entry of Syrian refugees.
In a letter sent Wednesday, Office of Refugee Resettlement Director Robert Carey said he is aware of the concern expressed by some local leaders in allowing Syrian refugees into their states. “Syrian refugees are subject to even more precautions than other refugees,” he added.
More than half of the nation’s governors have pledged not to allow Syrian refugees into their states following the wave of terror attacks that hit Paris earlier in the month, which left 130 dead and hundreds more injured. It is suspected that at least one of the attackers gained entry into France through the European refugee resettlement program.States are required to provide “assistance and services … to refugees without regard to race, religion, nationality, sex or political position” according to the Refugee Act of 1980, the letter points out. “States may not deny ORR-funded benefits and services to refugees based on a refugee’s country of origin or religious affiliation,” the letter states. “Accordingly, states may not deny ORR-funded benefits and services to Syrian refugees.” States that do not comply with these terms are subject to “enforcement action, including suspension or termination.”
According to Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, discrimination based on race or origin is against the law in all programs that receive federally-funded assistance, the letter adds.”So I guess it doesn’t matter to the Obama administration that ISIS has stated it would infiltrate the displaced persons from Syria — and we have evidence they’ve done just that. It matters little that we have a major security issue. The Obama administration will now invoke “refugee civil rights.”
Let me ask a very simple question: why is it that Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE and Qatar are not opening up their arms and doors to their Arab Muslim brothers and sisters? What makes this an issue that must be rectified by Europe and America?
I applaud Jordan for doing much in this area and their camps are overflowing — others in the region should step up. Our security concerns far outweigh surrendering our sovereignty in this case — and how is it that these individuals who are not American citizens are supposedly afforded “U.S. civil rights?”
It appears that everyone — other than American citizens — have rights, including those who cross our borders illegally and stay. What the Obama administration is saying to the American people is shut the hell up and do what we say and pay for it. So how are the states supposed to pay for these benefits, assistance, and services? Is this just another example of an unfunded mandate that the federal government is placing upon the states? What happened to the premise of federalism?
Let’s not forget this country took in “refugees” from Somalia and resettled them into our land. And look at the hotbed of Islamic jihadist recruiting and activity Minneapolis, Minnesota has become — hmm, isn’t that where Keith Ellison is the elected representative? I believe there are some 20 to 25 young Somali military-aged males missing from the area — wonder where they could be, certainly not on the side of a milk carton.
American civil rights are meant for Americans, and I understand Barack Obama wants to fix the problem he created, but this is not the solution.
Consider why Obama didn’t establish a safe zone in Syria and place a no-fly area over it to protect these people. Where was all this outrage when Obama decided his infamous red line wasn’t a red line after all? Why is it that now when we’ve reached a crisis level, Obama wants to step in and open up America for these displaced civilians? He cared little years ago. As a matter of fact, Obama sent more resources into Libya where there was hardly this level of mass murder and humanitarian crises.
Let’s be honest, Obama is viewing this all through a political prism, but this is a national security issue. If President Obama believes he’s winning this fight in the court of public opinion, regardless of what the complicit liberal progressive media accomplices do, he is horribly wrong. I enjoy reading how the liberal media is attacking the president of Hungary who has clearly stated no – he’s being viciously demonized. But he knows his history, and he knows this enemy, and he is not willing to sacrifice the security of his nation for the faux compassion of progressive socialists.
American civil rights are intended for Americans, not used as some political battering ram and threat against the governors of our states in order to achieve an ideological end state. How many times in the past seven years have we had the Obama administration threaten states? Too many to count.
