As we’ve reported here, President Barack Hussein Obama seems to have an insatiable desire to close Guantanamo Bay and send the
detainees terrorists to prisons in the continental United States.
The idea that holding prisoners at Gitmo provides a recruiting tool for terror organizations, but that moving them to some other prisons in the USA would not, makes no sense at all. But the real loser if Obama gets his way — which he always seems to — may be the eventual Democrat nominee for the presidency in 2016.
Following last week’s elections we posted a story here about Barack Obama’s greatest “success” carefully documenting the fact that Obama’s presidency is laying waste to Democrat office-holders across the nation. Obama’s determination to close down Gitmo could be the death blow to Hilary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, Martin O’Malley or whatever other old, rich, white person eventually wins the Democrat nomination.
Here’s what’s going to go down.Obama wants Gitmo closed. Period. And as we’ve seen time and again what B.O. wants, not what the American people want, is all that matters to B.O. Obama will attempt to get Gitmo shut down independently of congress, who just spoke very loudly on the subject, via some form of executive action. He will again govern against the will of the people and force through yet another wildly unpopular, undesired piece of executive ‘legislation.’ But for whom is the move the most unpopular? Residents of the state of Colorado.
If the presidential race is close in 2016, most analytical accounts point to two wildcard states as holding the key to determining the next occupant of the Oval Office: Nevada and Colorado. Closing Gitmo would mean the detainees must be relocated somewhere. The number one destination in the president’s plans? The Federal Bureau of Prisons‘ “SuperMAX” facilities located in and around Fremont County Colorado.
Residents of Florence and Canon City Colorado, the Fremont County cities where the prisons are located, are already up in arms over the very possibility of moving terrorist detainees into their communities. Fremont County GOP headquarters and the local grassroots organization, the Royal Gorge Tea Party are already seeing significant upticks in inquiries, drop-bys and attendance at local meetings.“If Obama does this [moves Gitmo prisoners] the people of Fremont County are not about to take it lying down. We’ll picket, boycott, write our representatives, show up at their offices and townhalls, we’ll be everywhere! In 2016 you’ll see the biggest grassroots turn out in the history of Colorado elections. Both Hilary AND Michael Bennet can hang it up,” said Richard Hollabaugh, Chairman of the Fremont County Republican Party, “We’ll run them out of town on a rail.”
Who’s Michael Bennet? He’s one of those Senators who voted in favor of Obamacare but hasn’t yet had to face his constituents in an election since casting that vote. Perceived as little more than an Obama rubber stamp (because that’s all he is), Bennet’s seat is considered very vulnerable and could flip Republican just like his former Senate mate from Colorado Mark Udall’s did in 2014 when he was ousted by Republican Corey Gardener. If he forces through the closing of Guantanamo Bay, the “Destroyer of Democrats” could hand his party yet another lump of coal. He could cost Democrats (at least) one more seat in the U.S. Senate and could so infuriate and motivate voters in what could become the most critical swing state of the election that he hands the election to the Republican contender next November too, completing his utter destruction of the Democrat Party.
Barack Obama is the gift that just keeps on giving.
