If you trace the history of the Palestinian Authority, you’ll discover it’s nothing more than a relatively well-run terrorist organization. Its true nom de guerre is Fatah and its militant wing is the Al Aqsa and Al Quds Martyrs Brigade. It can also be linked to Islamic Jihad. Its leader, Mahmoud Abbas aka Abu Mazen, has ties with the original Islamic terrorist, Yasser Arafat — who of course was invited into the White House by former President Bill Clinton. We’ve reported here previously of litigation against the Palestinian Authority related to restitution for terrorist attacks against Americans. A court ruled in favor of American families, but somehow the Obama administration got involved asking for an appeal.
Finally perhaps, Congress is stepping in as the keeper of the purse, its Constitutionally enumerated power.
As reported by the Washington Free Beacon, “Momentum is building on Capitol Hill for a new congressional resolution that would cut more than $5 billion in U.S. aid to the Palestinians as a result of an increase in violence that has claimed the lives of at least eight Israelis and wounded many more, according to a copy of the measure viewed by the Free Beacon.
The bill comes amid criticism from lawmakers about the Obama administration’s response to the terrorism and efforts to blame Israel for the violence. Sen. Ted Cruz (R., Tex.), among others, has demanded that Secretary of State John Kerry resign his post in light of accusations by the administration that Israel has fostered the violence as a result of its policies to combat Palestinian terrorism.

Martha McSally (R., Ariz.), a retired Air Force colonel, is now seeking to hold the Palestinian Authority directly responsible for the terrorist acts by cutting off U.S. taxpayer aid to the governing body, officials of which have called for more violence against Jewish people in recent days.”
My recommendation isn’t that we just cut $5 billion in aid to Abbas and this terrorist-based organization. We should END funding to the Palestinian Authority all together and expel them from their “consulate” in Washington DC. We wrote about Abbas being allowed to speak at the U.N. General Assembly — how could the world stoop so low as to recognize an Islamic terrorist organization, offering them legitimacy? And what is even more perplexing is the international move called BDS (Boycott, Divest, and Sanction) against Israel. We should all be ashamed of ourselves.
I just finished reading a soon-to-be released book about the our first foreign combat engagement against the Barbary pirates of the Maghreb in North Africa. Their objective was to attack the young American nation’s merchant shipping, taking our goods and enslaving our people and then demanding tribute. It was extortion on the high seas, and without a Navy, America was vulnerable.Incredibly, it wasn’t George Washington or John Adams who made the decision to stand up against the “Musselmen” but rather it was the “pacifist” Thomas Jefferson. It was Jefferson who ordered the building of four ships that would begin the legacy of our modern Navy. The U.S. Marines were created in order to provide the seagoing infantrymen who would deploy by maritime means to fight on land. Jefferson found it incomprehensible that we were paying these exorbitant amounts, often increased, instead of taking the enemy on.
Today, we find ourselves in no different a position, providing U.S. taxpayer funds to a terrorist group, the Palestinian Authority. They’re no different from the Muslim Brotherhood — it’s just that they’ve used pity propaganda to gain validity and legitimacy — and world funding. Funny, we’re about to release unfrozen assets to the tune of $150 billion to the number one state sponsor of Islamic terrorism — Iran. And to add insult to injury for Israel, we shared with you the comments emanating from the U.S. State Department equating Israel to Islamic terrorism. So what will it take folks? What will it take for us to realize, as Jefferson did, that offering up your “tribute” to Islamism will not win you peace or earn you respect. It will only be perceived as weakness and subservience. It’s time we send a message to Abbas and the Palestinian Authority: the charade is up, funding is cut off.
It’s time to stand firmly with our ally in the Middle East, Israel, and enable the Israelis to rid themselves of the scourge of Islamic terrorism that plagues their existence. It’s time that Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, Fatah, and all the rest learn their savage barbarism will no longer be tolerated – and certainly not bankrolled.
Congress has been on recess for the past week. They now return to face the issue of raising the debt ceiling and funding the government. How about this: Congress conducts an analysis of all the funding to nations and groups connected to Islamic terrorism, and cuts it off.
Hey, Secretary of the Treasury Jacob Lew, I understand you’re Jewish, tell me in your prioritizing of our bills you can’t eliminate the full funding of the PA (Fatah)? And Mr. President, instead of releasing $150 billion to Iran, tell me that just as they felt firing off ballistic missiles and showing us their underground missile base was vital — so shall we be keeping that cool $150 billion and using it to fund our government and reduce our debt. Remember the scene from the movie “Dave” when his friend the accountant, played by Charles Grodin, came in and went line-by-line over the federal budget and found wasteful spending? The first line that should be cut from our budget should be to Fatah – unless, Secretary Lew and President Obama, you’re both down with funding terrorists?
Ladies and gents, melt down the phone lines of Congress this week and tell them, not just the $5 billion, cut it all, not a dime to the Palestinian Authority. Just as Jefferson sent a message to the rulers of the Barbary coast — Morocco, Algeria, Tunis, and Tripoli — let’s send a message to Abu Mazen and his terrorist cronies. And pay attention to those who would vote against this measure, because I’m quite sure this bill will not be cosponsored by one representative from South Florida: Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz.
