This tragedy in Oregon has us all thinking again about the issue of guns in our country. President Obama simply wants to take our guns away, but is that really the answer?Jessy Atkinson, brother of Cheyenne, one of the victims in last Thursday’s shooting, has some common sense things to say to Obama. The ability to protect ourselves is vital to our American way of life. Do we really need to keep arguing this fact? If the gun control nuts take our guns, then the only people who’ll have them will be the criminals — and the government.

The brother of a woman injured when a gunman opened fire last week at an Oregon community college appeared on CNN Monday and delivered a brazen message to President Barack Obama.
“If you had the opportunity to meet with him, what would you say?” Host Anderson Cooper asked Jessy Atkinson, brother of Cheyenne.“I would tell him to look where the problem really lies and quit running the agenda — quit running the gun agenda,” he said. “It’s not the problem. It’s mental health in America. It’s obvious. All of us talk about it. I don’t know why we are hiding from it.”
Atkinson said money is wasted overseas and incarcerating drug offenders when it could be spent on mental health programs.
“It doesn’t seem our country is going in the right direction,” he said.Bonnie, mother of the shooting survivor, added to her son’s comments.
“I feel that our children should be able to protect themselves somehow,” she said.Obama is scheduled to travel to Oregon Friday to meet privately with the families of the shooting victims.
There’s really not a lot that can be done about how the left sees this issue. You gotta wonder if the real agenda is to stop all gun manufacturing in this country for the public. If that happens, the ability of the government to control us all will be even stronger. The Founding Fathers knew we needed to be able to protect ourselves. Even — perhaps especially — from government if need be.
