Thankfully, a suspect is now in custody for the execution-style shooting of the Houston Deputy last night. As USA Today reports, “Harris County Sheriff Ron Hickman described the killing of a deputy sheriff at a gas station as a “cold-blooded assassination” and angrily condemned the “very dangerous national rhetoric” about police officers that he said was out of control.
Deputy Darren Goforth, 47, was fatally shot late Friday while filling his patrol car in northwest Harris County.
The suspect, whose image was caught on surveillance video, approached Goforth from behind and shot him several times in the back. He continued to fire even after the officer had fallen to the ground.
The suspect is shown in photos as a dark-skinned male wearing a white T-shirt and red shorts and apparently driving a red or maroon-colored Ford pickup.”Yes, a “dark-skinned male” possibly inspired by “dangerous rhetoric” – but even AP reported last night that “authorities did not say what race they believe him (the suspect) to be – even though his image was recorded on security cameras. Have a look at him in the picture above. How would you describe him?
Yet in this politically-correct environment, we dare not make any suggestion about the race of the shooter, even though “he had short hair, possibly a fade cut.” But I suppose it’s “racist” these days to make any assumption about haircuts. And, it’s apparently politically incorrect on university campuses to ven mention someone’s gender, because maybe that’s not how they “identify.”
Can you imagine trying to give a description to police about an assailant without mentioning physical characteristics or gender? All we’re doing with all this political correctness is protecting the criminals. Isn’t it supposed to be the other way around?
