No murder charges for woman who cut baby out of womb

There are times when I truly believe evil is rampant in our society and we fail to grasp that realization.

Yes, I do support life, and per this recent case in Colorado, there should be no equivocating on that issue.

As reported by the Daily Caller, “A Colorado woman who allegedly cut a baby out of a woman’s womb who was seven months pregnant will not face murder charges because prosecutors can’t prove the baby survived once she was removed. If prosecutors can’t prove the baby, Aurora, “lived as a child outside the body of the mother for some period of time,” they can’t press murder charges in Colorado, Boulder County District Attorney Stanley Garnett told reporters.

Pro-abortion Democrats in Colorado have repeatedly blocked measures to change the law in favor of unborn babies, because of concerns pro-life Republicans would use such laws to restrict abortions in the state. The child’s mother, Michelle Wilkins, 26, went to the alleged killer’s home the afternoon of March 18 to pick up baby clothes in response to a Craigslist ad. The seller, Dynel Lane, who Wilkins knew as “D,” stabbed Wilkins, cut her abdomen open and removed the baby. Wilkins managed to call 9-11 and is in stable, but critical condition. The baby did not survive. Lane’s husband told police he left work early that day to take his wife to a prenatal appointment. When he got home he headed downstairs and his wife came around the corner, covered in blood. She told him she had miscarried and that the baby was upstairs in the bathtub.”

Yes, a baby that had been brutally cut out of her mother’s womb with the intention of killing little baby Aurora.

This episode reminds me of the Dr. Kermit Gosnell case, which liberal progressive media did everything to keep under the radar due to its heinous and despicable circumstances — he is now in jail. But this also reminds me of a young Illinois state senator who championed legislation advocating that even if a baby survived an abortion the child still deserved to be killed. (Hint: he’s now in the Oval Office).

What manner of people are we becoming that we are clearly supporting infanticide? The actions of Ms. Lane can only be seen as barbaric and premeditated — and why not have a law favoring unborn children — after all the first unalienable right is life.

It’s similar to the Nidal Hasan shooting at Ft. Hood where the stated death count in the act of “workplace violence” was 13 — not taking into account that one of the soldiers killed was pregnant. Hasan’s treacherous jihadist murder rampage resulted in FOURTEEN American lives lost.

Ms. Lane’s intent was to kill a child, and luring Ms. Wilkins to her apartment and her statement to her husband seems conclusive. One can only imagine the trauma that Ms. Wilkins will have for the rest of her life, and the sadness for a life — Aurora’s — that was ended in a tragic way.

So are the politics of killing babies more important than justice — don’t all lives matter? It would seem that to the pro-abortionist crowd, that’s not the case — as with all the millions of black babies who have met a similar fate, perhaps in not so premeditated or devious a manner.

Ms. Lane is a murderer and she is no different that Kermit Gosnell. She took an innocent life from a woman who was just looking for some baby clothes. And if there are some whose hearts are so hardened and cold that they cannot charge this woman with murder — my God, is there any hope?

And to debunk the whole line about Aurora not surviving outside the womb, “Lane’s husband stated ran upstairs and found the baby in the tub. He rubbed the baby slightly, then rolled it over to hear and see it take a gasping breath. He then wrapped the baby in a towel, rushed the baby and his wife to the hospital, then left to pick up his teenage step-daughters from school, who also live at Lane’s home.”

“Ms. Lane told hospital staff she had miscarried the baby, but then admitted to a police detective she had cut the baby out of Ms. Wilkins’ abdomen. The medical staff noted the baby would have been “viable,” and a doctor told police the incision was “well-performed,” by someone who would have to have researched Cesarean section births.”

“Ms. Lane was eventually arrested on charges of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault and child abuse knowingly and recklessly resulting in death. Prosecutors formally charged Lane Friday with eight felonies, but did not charge her with murder. “The issue of whether or not murder charges are appropriate involving a case involving the death of a fetus or a late-term pregnancy is always a difficult issue,” Garnett said in an earlier statement. ”Under Colorado law, essentially, there’s no way murder charges can be brought if it’s not established that the fetus lived as a child outside the body of the mother for some period of time.” This past Friday, Garnett acknowledged many want the state to charge Lane with murder, but said it’s legally impossible.”

To not charge Ms. Dynel Lane with murder is immoral and an emergency session of the Colorado legislature could take care of this perceived obstacle — and what say you, Governor?

Lane is facing more than 100 years in prison and it appears that this is not the first time she’s been involved in the death of a baby. “In 2002, Lane was apparently in a different marriage and lost a 19-month-old son to accidental drowning in a decorative pond at her home, a county coroner told CNN.

Life and motherhood are precious, God’s everyday miraculous gift to us, a civilized society, but does the politics of death for our unborn threaten that blessing?
