I do a daily personal Bible study from the impeccable guide My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers. I read the original and now I’m studying from the updated version edited by James Reimann.Today’s Bible study for March 10th was entitled, “Being an Example of His Message,” And the accompanying scripture came from 2 Timothy 4:1-4 (NIV),
“In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the word;
be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.”
And so to put this message into context, I will continue to present what you need to hear — not what I think you may want to hear.I am more than willing, as Paul was, to take the disparaging comments, perceived insult, and ignorant persecutions because at day’s end I must answer not to any of you, but to God — y’all know, the person from whom our unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness emanate — regardless of what Mr. Cuomo at CNN tends to believe along with the rest of the progressive secular humanist socialists.
As I drove in to the NCPA office this morning from Corinth, Texas I heard on the news that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has decided to speak and will deliver a press conference this week. In keeping with today’s scripture study from Chambers I must ask, has the time truly come in America when we the people no longer “ put up with sound doctrine?”
Have we become so enamored with our own personal desires that we discard the basic human principles of integrity, truth and character? Have we now entered that degraded state of existence where we turn away from truths and embrace the deceitful lies of manipulative individuals?Have Hillary and Bill Clinton once again gathered about them “a great number of teachers” who have advised them “to say what our itching ears want to hear?”
Let me encourage you, our pastors and ministers, to take out your Bible today and read these four verses from Paul’s second letter to young Timothy. Even more so, I encourage each of you as Americans to ask yourself, have you come to a time when you no longer accept sound doctrine but instead, to suit your own desires, gather ’round and wait to be told what your itching ears wish to hear?Praise be to the Lord for touching me this day to share this simple message with y’all. Steadfast and Loyal.
