The dust-up between President Obama and Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continues. As we reported yesterday, White House officials are furious over Netanyahu’s acceptance of John Boehner’s invitation to address Congress. They have warned “there will be consequences.”Here’s the opening salvo. As reported by left-leaning Jerusalem paper Haaretz, a foreign funded organization, “One Voice,” is bankrolling the V-2015 campaign to defeat Netanyahu’s national campaign in the March 2015 Knesset Elections.
It just so happens that the 5-person team of campaign experts being flown into Tel Aviv to carry out the hit for V-2015 includes Jeremy Bird, the Obama campaign’s national field director.
Because V-2015 doesn’t support a specific party, just “ABB” – anyone but Bibi — foreign funding isn’t subject to Israel’s campaign financing laws.
Jerusalem Post columnist Caroline Glick reported on her Facebook page, “Obama won’t meet Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington when he addresses the Joint Houses of Congress in March because of Netanyahu’s visit’s proximity to the Israeli elections. And Obama, of course believes in protocol and propriety which is why he won’t get involved.”Right, instead he’ll just send his field campaign manager to Israel to try to defeat Netanyahu – because that’s so much more diplomatic.
