Like trash: 2 dead fetuses found dumped on San Diego residential street

There are many quotes from Abraham Lincoln that I appreciate but this one from his first inaugural address in 1861 stands out for me: “We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory… will yet swell…when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.”

These words were spoken by a man, a leader, a president who sought to repair the deep chasm that had been created from the years of toil in the Civil War. He implored us to find something within, something that would repair the wounds of that war that pitted brother against brother, father against son — American against American.

So coming across this story pained me so much it brought tears to my eyes. It made me think about Lincoln’s quote and how, somehow, we must find “the better angels of our nature” because someone must speak for those who have no voice.

As reported by CNS News, “Authorities say two well-developed human fetuses, apparently twins, were found dead along a road near a San Diego County church. Sheriff’s officials say a man called 911 Friday afternoon to report the gruesome discovery in Fallbrook, California. The man said he initially thought it was a doll wrapped in a blanket.”

Thomas Jefferson wrote of our certain unalienable rights endowed to us by our Creator — the first of which is life. It is not part of the better angels of our nature to conduct ourselves in such a way that the precious lives of these two little souls meant absolutely nothing — just trash to be discarded.

As a father, I remember first holding the tiny little lives wrapped in a bundle who were our daughters, Aubrey Elizabeth and Austen Brianna. For me, those two twins left along the road represent two American lives that will never know the American dream, the promise of our great and exceptional country.

They had no knowledge of “the better angels of our nature.” I can only pray our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ welcomed these tiny little ones into his bosom — since they were denied that love here on earth. At least now, they’ve found a place where they won’t experience the pain and suffering this dark and callous world believes they deserve.

Remember, it was a young state senator from Illinois who supported legislation allowing the destruction of any baby surviving an abortion. That to me is unconscionable.

At a time when so many seek to adopt babies and give them a loving home, these twins were discarded. This is what happens when a society can raise monsters like Kermit Gosnell while media outlets suppress the story because it’s not consistent with their accepted narrative.

According to CNS News, “Paramedics confirmed that the two fetuses were dead. Homicide detectives are investigating. Sheriff’s Lt. John Maryon says the fetuses were well-developed and appeared to be five months along or older. The cause of their death wasn’t immediately known. An autopsy is planned.”

Will the story of two dead fetuses make the national news cycle at all? Will we ever know what happened? Who will be there to bury these little souls and give them a proper ceremony? Will anyone even care to posthumously name them and place a headstone at their final resting place? Will there be a makeshift memorial left for these babies?

If this is what defines the progressive left pro-choice movement, I want no part. I find it unconscionable that anyone could condone, justify, or rationalize this horrible action.

For those of us who believe in the better angels of our nature, this is not how we heal our land.

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV) “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

May God bless the souls of these two American babies.
