ISIS psychopaths turn pillaged churches into torture chambers

I pray all of you had a very Merry Christmas and enjoyed quality family time. We had a fantastic Christmas meal my dear friend Alma prepared — good thing I put in a 6-mile Christmas morning run.

Well, it’s back to basics and the reality of our world. And this is one we must never forget, since we just had the peace of remembering that “Unto us a child is born and He shall be called Immanuel, God is with us”. As we received the gift of God’s peace in Jesus Christ’s birth — and some pretty neat personal gifts — some Christians were reminded of another aspect of the faith: persecution.

As reported by Fox News, “The Islamic State is turning Christian churches in Iraq and Syria into dungeons and torture chambers after stripping them of priceless artifacts to sell on the black market, according to reports.”

“Ancient relics and even entire murals are being torn from the houses of worship and smuggled out through the same routes previously established for moving oil and weapons in and out of the so-called caliphate, a vast region the jihadist army has claimed as sovereign under Sharia law. “ISIS has a stated goal to wipe out Christianity,” Jay Sekulow, of the American Center for Law and Justice and the author of “Rise of ISIS: A Threat We Can’t Ignore,” told “This why they are crucifying Christians — including children — destroying churches and selling artifacts. The fact is, this group will stop at nothing to raise funds for its terrorist mission.”

Reading this story on Christmas Day really brought things into perspective and further demonstrated the savage barbarism of this enemy. Who would have conceived this would be happening in the 21st century — in clear view for all of us to know?

I will just pose a question — what would be the global response if Christians or Jews were raiding mosques and specifically targeting Muslims for horrific torture and murder? The United Nations would most likely be first in condemnation. The Ummah — Muslim community — would be unequivocally demanding the guilty group be destroyed.

Yet, consider that this year, the Associated Press declared the story of the year to be “police shooting black men” – if you cannot get the most extensive global media outlet to recognize the ISIS threat…well, you get my point. And yes, I’ve read reports that Islamists have been in Ferguson, Missouri seeking to recruit members for ISIS. And no, I didn’t read that thanks to an AP report.

As Fox News writes, “It’s not clear what items have been stolen, but the terrorist group has sought to destroy religious groups that don’t embrace its twisted and violent interpretation of Islam, and has already blown up several revered Christian sites and monuments. Last July, ISIS militants used sledgehammers to destroy the tomb of Jonah in Mosul. Around the same time, they were destroying Sunni shrines and mosques in the northern province of Ninevah, including the Shia Saad bin Aqeel Husseiniya shrine in the city of Tal Afar and the al-Qubba Husseiniya, as well as Christian churches in Syria. The group follows a strict interpretation of the Sunni faith, which is against idolatry of anything other than God. ISIS has also threatened to destroy the holy sight of Mecca in Saudi Arabia.”

So with that being known, what precludes us all from damning ISIS to hell – after all, even Vice President Joe Biden of all people said so.

We recently wrote about the first ground engagement between ISIS and our US Special Operations forces — which for some odd reason wasn’t mentioned by the Commander-in-Chief during his final press conference of 2014.

Could it be our leaders just don’t want to recognize evil in our midst? And why wouldn’t they want to see this clear and present demonic behavior? Maybe they don’t see it that way?

Imagine if this were the late 1930s and globa social media would have allowed the world to see the atrocities — in almost real time — of Hitler’s Germany and Tojo’s Imperial Japan. What if the rape of Nanking could have been reported for the whole world to know? What if the horrific conditions of the Warsaw ghetto and the plight of European Jewry could have been reported daily?

Would the world have just watched and allowed these tragedies to just happen — and idly sit back and do nothing? I’m quite sure even though America possessed an isolationist, sentiment we would have stepped up — and not awaited Pearl Harbor. But then again, perhaps I could be wrong.

So here we are today, the day after Christmas, enjoying sales — and returning some gifts. Some folks will already forgotten that thing we call Christmas cheer.

But just remember this, “The Islamic militants have converted churches in Qaraqosh and other Iraqi cities into torture chambers, according to the Sunday Times. One priest from the region, who gave his name as Abu Aasi from Mosul, told the newspaper earlier this month that prisoners were being held in the Bahnam Wa Sara and Al Kiama churches. “These two churches are being used as prisons and for torture,” he said while in hiding. “Most inside are Christians and they are being forced to convert to Islam. Isis has been breaking all the crosses and statues of Mary.”

Maybe, just maybe, after reading this, cranky shoppers will complain just a little less. Sadly, this story isn’t dominating the news — I suppose it doesn’t fit the liberal progressive media’s narrative. You know, “black lives matter” — well, just the black lives that enable the progressive socialist anti-police and law enforcement message to be promulgated. Apparently, Christian lives don’t really matter.

All those black lives lost in Chicago to gang violence? They don’t matter. All those black lives lost to abortion? They don’t matter. And the genocidal murder of Christians — well, that certainly doesn’t matter. Where are all those human rights groups so concerned about GITMO unlawful enemy combatants?

Jay Sekulow sums it up nicely, “We know that ISIS considers several groups — including Christians — as ‘infidels without human rights,'” Sekulow said. “ISIS jihadists commit violence against fellow Muslims in violation of Islamic law. They routinely commit war crimes and engage in torture in violation of international law; and they also kill and threaten Christian, Jewish, and other religious communities.” “In short, ISIS is composed of religiously motivated psychopaths,” he said.”

I agree with Sekulow’s words — except the last — ISIS are just psychopaths, rabid mad dogs. And down South we know what to do with rabid dogs — you put them down!
