The Palestinian Authority (PA) is about to introduce a resolution to the UN Security Council demanding there be no Jews on Palestinian territory — now if you know your history you recognize the absurdity of the resolution. Let me explain. It was after the Simon Bar Kokhba revolt also known as the Second Jewish Insurrection against the Romans when, after the insurrection was defeated, Emperor Hadrian ordered many edicts to punish the Jews and hoped to erase Judaism from existence — sound familiar? One of his edicts was to rename the land from Judea to Palaestina — which came from the ancient word Philistia and if you know your ancient civilizations, the Philistines were of Greek descent — certainly not Arabic.
So the introduction of the word Palaestina, which gives us the modern word Palestine, has nothing to do with Arabs — but rather a punishment against the Jewish people for revolting — which actually began the diaspora.
As a matter of fact, Hadrian changed the name of Jerusalem to Aeolia Capitolina — so should the Italians lay claim to Jerusalem?
As the quote goes, “Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” So here we are on an international level giving credibility to something that has never existed — an independent Palestinian state. The two-state solution was decided years ago — to be Israel and Jordan — and it has been and continues to today to be the nomadic Arabs who will not consent, and have used terrorism to make their demands.Just listen to the anger in this video.
As reported by Palestinian Media Watch, “In his latest sermon, Mahmoud Abbas’ advisor on Religious and Islamic Affairs stated that “all our occupied land, all our rights in Palestine… our ancestors’ legacy – all of it will return to us even if it takes time.” Since the Palestinian Authority claims historical rights to all of Israel, by referring to “our ancestors’ legacy” returning, Abbas’ advisor Mahmoud Al-Habbash is assuring Palestinians that Israel’s demise is assured.”So can this cheeky fella explain to me his ancestors’ legacy? This is what happens when people fail to know history, and don’t challenge the ill-informed rhetoric that gets promulgated across the airwaves.
If there is no one to refute this false claim — seems a lot of false narratives are going around right now — then we allow a made-up organization to file a resolution before an international political body.Just because Saluhaddin once conquered Jerusalem doesn’t justify give claim to the historical capitol city of the Jewish nation — and the historical artifacts give evidence of the establishment of the City of David and a Jewish culture that existed long before Muhamamad’s entry onto the scene in 612 AD.
And yes, this is a matter of Islam. “ Palestinian Media Watch reported that Al-Habbash gave a speech about the same theme in October, when he taught that accepting Israel’s existence is “prohibited” under Islamic law: “The entire land of Palestine (i.e., includes all of Israel) is waqf (an inalienable religious endowment in Islamic law) and is blessed land…It is prohibited to sell, bestow ownership or facilitate the occupation of even a millimeter of it.” [Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, Oct. 22, 2014]”
Is this how we’re supposed to resolve a two-state solution?
As you can see in the video, “Mahmoud Al-Habbash, the PA Supreme Shari’ah Judge and Mahmoud Abbas’ advisor on Religious and Islamic Affairs gave this Friday sermon in the presence Abbas. The following is the selected text: “All of this land will return to us, all our occupied land, all our rights in Palestine – our state, our people’s heritage, our ancestors’ legacy – all of it will return to us even if it takes time. Patience is the key to victory, and we are patient. In terms of resistance, all options are on the table, and in terms of diplomacy as well.” [Official PA TV, Dec. 12, 2014]
As well, his sermon clearly declared, ” violence is one of the tools that the PA will use against Israel.”
And we’re supposed to arbitrate negotiations between this and a recognized and declared nation-state? Perhaps the real issue is that many in the West actually don’t want Israel to exist either. For some reason we continue to dismiss and disregard the violent actions of the other side — Arabs and Islamic terrorists.
It’s amazing to me that we’re bending over in every way and making every possible excuse and concession for the abhorrent behavior, rhetoric, and actions emanating from Fatah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and others. They will not be satisfied until Israel is indeed eradicated, and it just seems we’re providing complicit hand in their quest — with horrific foreign policy and horrific consequences.
We should not demand anything of Israel. And if we really wanted to help a group establish a homeland, then let’s help out the Kurds, the worlds largest ethnic group without a homeland. The Kurds have a distinct culture, language, and an ancestral legacy and history — just ask the Greek leader Xenophon and his army.
Boy howdy do I love ancient history — keeps one from being fooled.
