Obama releases 5 more GITMO prisoners

Ever heard of the Kansas City Shuffle? You look left, they go right. While the entire country was focused on one unconstitutional executive action by President Obama — he was busy doing another.

As reported by Fox News, “The Obama administration has released five Guantanamo Bay prisoners after an administration task force determined they no longer posed a threat” — yep, we’ve been hearing that lots lately.

“The Department of Defense announced Thursday that three of the men were sent to Georgia and two to Slovakia for resettlement. The Pentagon identified the three now former prisoners resettled in Georgia as Abdel Ghaib Ahmad Hakim, Salah Mohammed Salih Al-Dhabi and Abdul Khaled Al-Baydani. The two sent to Slovakia were Hashim Bin Ali Bin Amor Sliti and Husayn Salim Muhammad Al-Mutari Yafai.

“The group was among dozens of low-level prisoners at Guantanamo who were determined to no longer pose a threat by an administration task force in 2009. Their release brings the total prison population to 143, about 100 fewer than when President Barack Obama took office pledging to close the detention center.”

Of course we all remember the infamous “Taliban Five,” senior members of the enemy released back to the enemy while the enemy is still fighting our men and women deployed to Afghanistan. Those fellas were also determined to “no longer pose a threat” – yeah, right. Any of you remember the American for whom we released these five Taliban leaders? Hmm, let me see, what was his name? I think it was something like, Army SGT Bowe Bergdahl — heard about him lately?

So while President Obama was violating the Constitution’s Article I, Section 8, Clause 4 regarding making rules and laws on naturalization, he was also violating the matter of captures on land and sea — Article I, Section 8, Clause 11 — an enumerated power designated for Congress. I know many of you are asking what should be done? My mission is to inform you and make you aware. Your mission is to demand more from your elected representatives.

Let us not forget that the recidivism rate for GITMO release detainees is about 30 percent — so two of these five Bubbas released will find their way back to the battlefield — probably joining up with ISIS.

Fox says, “U.S. State Department envoy Clifford Sloan has been trying to persuade countries to accept prisoners and he praised Georgia and Slovakia for their assistance. “We are very grateful to our partners for these generous humanitarian gestures,” Sloan said. “We appreciate the strong support we are receiving from our friends and allies around the globe.” However House Armed Services Committee Chairman Buck McKeon slammed the releases in a statement Thursday, saying he is concerned former Gitmo detainees will rejoin terror organizations. “What the Obama administration is doing is dangerous and, frankly, reckless,” McKeon, R-Calif., said. “They have chosen many times to put politics above national security. It’s time they stop playing with fire and start doing what’s right. Until we can assure the terrorists stay off the battlefield, they must stay behind bars.” Georgia took three prisoners from Guantanamo in 2010. Slovakia has now taken a total of eight men from Guantanamo.”

Now I may not be considered by the progressive socialist left to be the most astute fella in the neighborhood — but here is a simple inquiry, what guarantee do we have from Georgia and Slovakia after President Obama abandoned them on the issue of the missile defense shield?

I’m also quite sure they’re concerned about the intrusion of Russia into Ukraine, wondering if they will be next. What tracking measures are in place to ensure these fine upstanding members of society won’t find their way back to the battlefield in support of Islamic terrorism?

In the fantasyland of progressives, there is truly no need for a Constitution or a Congress – there’s certainly no restraint or accountability of the executive branch to anyone. America isn’t being governed, but being ruled based on the ideological whims and desires of one — and campaign promises. Obama said he would bring about comprehensive immigration reform. He couldn’t wait for the legislative process so he just did it himself.

Obama felt GITMO was bad and it needed to be closed. Well, instead of presenting his case before Congress and oversight committees, he’s just doing it unilaterally himself. And we find out about the releases ex post facto. This is what we can expect in the final two years of the Obama reign — not governance but rule.

It’s not about the development of legislation and policy, it becomes a game of thrones and demonizing of the political opposition in order to have thine own way — the imposition of his un-divine will.

Who in America has the courage and conviction to stand against this blatant disregard of our Constitutional Republic and its principles? There are some and they are not racist for pushing back — as the liberal media would want you to believe. It’s time that skin color no longer provides a Kevlar-like body armor for President Barack Hussein Obama, making him impervious to any criticism. The Republic is not based on the whims of one — and a dangerous precedent is being established, because there will be a non-Democrat president one day — in two years perhaps.

And is it now the standard in America that if a president doesn’t get what he wants from Congress — when he wants it – it’s in his “lawful authority” to make a rule or decree as he wishes? I’m quite sure if a president were to enact comprehensive tax reform by executive action there would be a huge outcry from progressives.

Releasing Islamic terrorists while Islamic terrorists are still fighting against this country, and the world, is not just bad policy — it is folly.
