We didn’t want to post this on Facebook to give it even more exposure – and more fodder for those who welcome the destruction of Israel – but honestly this has to be one of the must appalling, disgusting attempts at “satire” ever.Yesterday, Israel’s left-leaning newspaper, Haaretz, published this cartoon depicting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu flying a plane with the name “Israel” into a skyscraper bearing a marked resemblance to the World Trade Center tower.
How is this “funny?”
The cartoonist, Amos Biderman, said, “It was certainly not my intention to insult or upset anyone. I wasn’t sufficiently aware of the great sensitivity that 9/11 holds for Americans.”Dude, are you freakin’ kidding me?
The Zionist Organization of America issued a condemnation saying, ”It is utterly poisonous, hysterical and wrong to suggest that disagreement between an Israeli government and the U.S. Administration — a disagreement over vital matters of peace and security, in which the democratically-elected Israeli government has every right and duty to disagree if it sees fit — is comparable to an act of evil suicide terrorism of the 9/11 variety that struck the United States 13 years ago.”
”It is impossible to believe that the editors of Haaretz responsible for the decision to publish this malicious cartoon could not have known that hatemongers across the world claim Israel engineered the 9/11 attacks, and promote other vicious anti-Israel lies. Given this, it was unconscionable for an Israeli paper, no less, to play any role in demonizing Israel with falsehoods. “However, I have to admit being slightly perplexed by the statement from Abraham Foxman, National Director of the Anti-Defamation League who said “…it completely misrepresent(s) any tensions which may currently exist between the U.S. government and Mr. Netanyahu.”
