It is said that no good deed goes unpunished. In the case of incumbent Mississippi Republican (I think) Senator Thad Cochran, no nefarious despicable deed goes without payback. The Democrats to whom Cochran ran, enabling him to win a Republican run-off in the Magnolia state, are calling in their chits. According to Mississippi Gun News, “President Obama has not taken long to signal just how Thad Cochran will repay the debt for the quarter million dollar campaign donation from anti-gun Michael Bloomberg. A renewed push for gun control is on the horizon, and Obama is expecting great things from Bloomberg and his new anti-gun group. Now that he has a senior statesman in his hip pocket they expect to have greater success in their effort to push measures like background checks.”
So Thad Cochran is the victim of the age-old adage, never lie down with dogs — in this case jackasses — or you’ll get fleas.
As we wrote last week, Cochran decided to seek Democrat support by way of race-baiting tactics in fliers and robo-calls into the black community against his GOP opponent, conservative Chris McDaniel. And so it goes in the world of political chicanery – it’s time for Cochran to pay the grim reaper.
Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg contributed $250,000 to Cochran’s run-off campaign and Bloomberg isn’t stupid — nor should we expect he’s willing to waste his money. The donation to Cochran didn’t come because Bloomberg thought Cochran was a cheeky fella who would get him Ole Miss season football tickets. No, the Michael Bloomberg-financed Every Town for Gun Safety has a stated goal of being able to financially challenge the NRA.With Cochran’s win, Bloomberg of course now owns Senator Thad who will be expected to assist in that objective — the how will come by way of orders from Obama, who is angry that his gun control agenda has been thwarted. As Mississippi Gun News reports, “Since legislation has been controversial for some time, I thought that this was going to be a breakthrough moment, [the Sandy Hook Shooting]” Obama said. “It was probably the most disappointing moment I had in dealing with Congress.”
Don’t expect Thad Cochran to stand strong for the Second Amendment.
However, someone else is calling in his hold cards with Cochran: Mississippi Congressional Representative Bennie Thompson. In a recent National Review interview, Thompson stated, “We have historically black colleges in our state who do the best job they can trying to educate our citizens. I’d like to see efforts that they receive full funding. I’d like to see the health care of our citizens improved; our children die too young. I’d like to see an increased effort to make sure that the minority unemployment rate inn our state is reduced. So, there are a lot of opportunities for us to start with.”And in typical fashion, Thompson further claimed, “I don’t know anybody black who likes the Tea Party. So, if a tea-party person is running against another Republican and you ask a black person, they’re going to support the regular Republican,” he said. “Their platform is counter to a lot of the beliefs of many African Americans. We think there is a place in government to make the lives of its citizens better; that there is a place in government to make sure that education, health care, and other things are available to all citizens. So, that’s a reasonable expectation of government. But this ‘limited government’ and other things that you hear from a lot of tea-party candidates does not resonate well with the black community.”
So this loon Thompson is ok with the liberal progressive policies that have decimated the black family? He’s down with Obama, Holder, and de Blasio going after school choice and charter school programs which afford a better educational opportunity for black children? He’s cool with the epic unemployment in the black community all the while his bosom buddy Obama seeks to flood the job marketplace with more low-skilled illegal immigrant workers? What Thompson wants is a “regular Republican” – i.e. establishment — that will join in alliance to keep the black community on this 21st Century welfare nanny state economic plantation. And that’s exactly what he got with Thad Cochran. So way to go Thad – you’ve just resurrected the plantation mentality in Mississippi. You are Mr. Boss whitey scaring them colored people and have your new overseer, ol’ Bennie. You were successful in attacking a modern-day abolitionist in Chris McDaniel who wanted greater opportunity and freedom, not government enslavement for blacks in Mississippi. As well, Thad ol’ boy, you have further allowed the liberal progressive Leftists to demonize those such as myself who have escaped that plantation.
And that sir is why I find you and your actions deplorable — and will not celebrate a victory in November.
