IRS and Lerner targeted sitting U.S. Senator

How many of you find it absolutely unbelievable that seven individuals could have their hard drives crash at the same time with all their emails lost and totally unrecoverable? Yeah, I know, methinks it a bit of a stretch of the imagination as well. But that’s how it is with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Business as usual.

And lest you all forget, part of Obamacare — which was not delayed or waived – included the hiring of 16,000 new IRS agents, since the infamous agency is the enforcement arm of the healthcare law. Next year Americans will have the dubious honor of checking a certain box on their tax returns and providing healthcare insurance information — oh boy, I am just giddy with excitement.

So in the latest installment of “White House: The Young and the Lawless,” the House Ways and Means Committee has issued a statement outlining that Ms. Lerner — sitting back in retirement enjoying that six-figure taxpayer funded check — had her eyes not just on conservative groups but particular individuals.

Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI) announced the Internal Revenue Service’s (IRS) targeting of conservative individuals even includes a sitting United States Senator. According to emails reviewed by the Committee under its Section 6103 authority, which allows the Committee to review confidential taxpayer information, Lois Lerner sought to have Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) referred for IRS examination.

Yes, it seems not even a sitting U.S. Senator is beyond the long arm of the Lerner.

“We have seen a lot of unbelievable things in this investigation, but the fact that Lois Lerner attempted to initiate an apparently baseless IRS examination against a sitting Republican United States Senator is shocking,” said Camp. “At every turn, Lerner was using the IRS as a tool for political purposes in defiance of taxpayer rights. We may never know the full extent of the abuse since the IRS conveniently lost two years of Lerner emails, not to mention those of other key figures in this scandal. The fact that DOJ refuses to investigate the IRS’s abuses or appoint a special counsel demonstrates, yet again, this Administration’s unwillingness to uphold the rule of law.”

Never forget that the liberal progressive socialist way is rooted in fear, intimidation and coercion. Of course the Obama administration can tout success in Obamacare signups, but the alternative was an additional tax enforced by the IRS. It’s kinda easy to get folks to sign up for something under the specter of punitive action – just more Chicago thuggery. And to think IRS Commissioner Koskinen had the gall to state his agency hasn’t broken any laws and there’s no evidence of criminal wrongdoing. I think the Archivist of the United States took umbrage with that statement.

Oh, and have you heard the latest? Seems the dog also ate the EPA’s emails as well. Boy, those folks in the Obama administration sure seem to be technically challenged. But over at the NSA, they don’t seem to have any problem with collecting and keeping mountains of data. Funny how that works.

Anyway, documents show Lerner received an invitation to a speaking event that was intended for Senator Grassley. Instead of forwarding the invitation to Grassley’s office, Lerner immediately suggested to others in her office that the issue should be referred for examination. The Committee was able to investigate this information through its authority under Section 6103 of the tax code. A waiver was signed by Senator Grassley and his wife in order to make this information public.

Let me reiterate, Ms. Lois Lerner was a Democrat political appointee who has asserted her Fifth Amendment rights twice — she doesn’t want to incriminate herself. If indeed nothing criminal occurred, then why is she so worried about incriminating herself?

Man, ya just have to ask, what would the liberal media be saying if this was all under a Republican administration?
