Benghazi cover-up: Al-Qaida’s Libyan comeback raises questions

The rabbit hole known as Libya gets deeper and deeper, and the evidence is more and more damning against President Obama, Mrs. Clinton and congressional leadership that will not support a House Select Committee to investigate Benghazi. The American people must be told what the strategic objectives were in Libya. Even liberal blogs like the Daily Beast are beginning to wonder.

In fact, said Beast has reported that a secret training facility (and all the armament inside) operated by the American government has fallen into the hands of Libyan jihadists. The training facility was set up by U.S. special operations forces on the Libyan coastline to help hunt down Islamic militants. In the summer of 2012, American Green Berets began refurbishing the base, 27 kilometers west of Tripoli, in order to hone the skills of Libya’s first Western-trained special operations counter-terrorism fighters. Less than two years later, that training camp is now being used by groups with direct links to al-Qaida to foment chaos in post-Qaddafi Libya.

According to the Daily Beast, last week, the Libyan press reported that the camp (named “27” for the kilometer marker on the road between Tripoli and Tunis) was now under the command of Ibrahim Ali Abu Bakr Tantoush, a veteran associate of Osama bin Laden who was first designated as part of al-Qaida’s support network in 2002 by the United States and the United Nations.

The questions are simply mind-boggling. What were the intentions of President Obama’s unconstitutional actions in Libya (he violated the War Powers Act, which as a matter of fact, both Dennis Kucinich and I stood against) to destabilize Libya and enable Islamic jihadists to take over? Was there a covert gun-running program to these radical Islamists in Libya? Furthermore, was there another covert gun-running operation to retrieve arms from Libyan Islamists and funnel them through Turkey to Islamists fighting in Syria? And is that what went horribly wrong in Benghazi?

Has the Obama administration been aiding and abetting the enemy — which is a definable act of treason? Was this a well-known venture that holds bipartisan complicity? There has to be a reason why Speaker John Boehner and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor will not support Rep. Frank Wolf’s HR 36 “Select Committee for Benghazi” which now has over 190 cosponsors — interesting, where’s the Democrat support?

Hey, Harry Reid, stop worrying about ranchers in Nevada and the Koch Brothers. If the Senate doesn’t investigate this, it is enjoined in the indictment. And if we don’t get a Select Committee in the House, Boehner and Cantor can be on that Benghazi cover-up “Black List” as well.

This is serious business. And potentially treasonous for everyone complicit.
