Unbelievable: Pentagon says diversity and inclusion critical to mission success

I now know why the Army hasn’t trained for the past six months. According to Major General Jessica L. Wright (USARNG, Ret), acting Undersecretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, diversity and inclusion is critical to mission success.

As the National Review reported, Wright spoke Tuesday at an event hosted by the German Marshall Fund of the United States.

The webpage for the event, titled “Mission Critical: Transatlantic Security and Diversity,” explained, “it is a security imperative for military leaders to proactively advance diversity and inclusion (D&I) best practices,” because of the “rapid demographic change [and] advances in gender and LGBT equity and a new generation of veterans in NATO countries.”

Silly me, I thought a trained and ready force needed to be proficient in its war fighting tasks in order to fight and win our nation’s wars – that was what mattered for mission success. It seems this new perspective on our military is based upon the misguided progressive socialist vision of social egalitarianism.

I remember back during the Clinton administration when we received a new training edict. I was an artillery Brigade Operations Officer stationed at Ft. Bragg at the time. The mandate was called, “consideration of others” training, which we affectionately called “coo.” It mandated that platoon-sized units have 60-90 minute training sessions based upon vignettes that enabled the members of the unit to discuss their feelings.

Never mind we were struggling to keep our artillery crews qualified, since our ammunition allocation was cut. We were also struggling to keep up maintenance on our howitzers, since funding for spare parts was cut.

Some of you may remember after the Ft. Hood terrorist attack, then-Army Chief of Staff, General Casey, voiced concern about an adverse affect on diversity on a Sunday talk show. I don’t believe that was General Casey speaking but rather Obama administration talking points.

Our US military should not be based upon fairness, diversity, or inclusion. It should be about having the most dedicated and prepared warriors who will instill fear in the enemy. I don’t think Islamic terrorists will fear our military because we are inclusive and give everyone a trophy for showing up.

This is precisely why we need to elect more conservative leaders with military experience to stem the tide of this creeping social engineering. Find out how you can help with the Allen West Guardian Fund.
