Soon after taking office, President Trump got to work fulfilling his campaign promises. Day after day, Trump has rolled out new policies, showing the American people he plans to make good on the trust placed in him.
It’s been a refreshing new way of doing business in Washington, as Americans aren’t accustomed to politicians doing exactly what they promised to do.
Of course, the progress hasn’t come without roadblocks. Senate Democrats have obstructed every single one of Trump’s cabinet nominations, and judges sympathetic to the left have blocked his travel ban in court. Despite the fierce opposition, President Trump shows no signs of slowing down. In fact, he just hinted that one of his major campaign promises should be on the way soon.
From The Hill:
President Trump on Thursday said that the White House would make a tax-related announcement in the next several weeks, calling it “phenomenal.”“We’re going to be announcing something I would say over the next two or three weeks that will be phenomenal in terms of tax,” he said in a meeting with airline executives. The tax efforts are “coming along very well,” Trump said, adding that he believed that they were “way ahead of schedule.”
Tax reform was a cornerstone of Trump’s economic policy during the campaign, and the work to make good on that promise is close to being completed.
As a successful businessman, President Trump fully understands our complex tax code has a detrimental effect on American businesses. Making taxes not only lower, but simplifying the code itself, would lift a huge burden off the shoulders of our businesses. Trump’s tax reform should spur hiring and quick economic growth.
No details on the plan have been released, and it’s still unclear whether the president has been working closely with Congress on the reform, or if he plans to take executive action. However, what is clear is despite the opposition, President Trump has no plan to slow down his agenda.
