With former FBI Director James Comey just days from testifying in front of the Senate, Democrats are starting to speculate that this is the beginning of the end for President Trump. Since being fired last month, Comey has become a martyr of sorts to the left. To them, his firing was proof that Trump had something to hide.
Of course, for those of us with a memory span longer than 5 months, we know Comey is far from a hero. His bizarre behavior on multiple occasions during the 2016 election soured the FBI’s reputation with the public. In fact, his conduct was so poor, many Democrats were calling for him to be fired.
Evidently, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi forgot this fact. While discussing Comey’s upcoming testimony on ‘The View’, Pelosi claimed she never called for Comey to be fired. As it turns out, at least one of the show’s host didn’t have liberal induced amnesia.
From the Hill:
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Monday disputed a talk show host’s statement that the she wanted former FBI Director James Comey to be fired.“Congresswoman, you yourself said that you thought that Comey’s behavior was inappropriate, his actions were inappropriate, and that he should be fired,” Sunny Hostin, a co-host on ABC’s “The View,” told Pelosi.
“No, I never said he should be fired,” Pelosi said.“What I said was when he — what he did as far as Hillary Clinton was concerned — was he couldn’t take the heat for it,” Pelosi said, referencing Comey’s controversial decision to share information about the investigation into Clinton’s use of a private email server ahead of the presidential election.
Hostin responded by reading Pelosi’s own words to her live on air:
Hostin then pointed to Pelosi’s comments days before the election that Comey may not be “in the right job.”
The hijinks begin at about the five minute mark here:
Hostin was referencing a CNN interview Pelosi did just days before the election. In addition to saying Comey might not be right for the job, she said “I think that we have to just get through this election and just see what the casualties are along the way.”
Of course, Pelosi didn’t use the exact words “should be fired”. However, it’s impossible to construe her words in any other way. If he’s “not right for the job”, you’re strongly hinting he should be fired.
Regardless, Pelosi’s statement highlights the double standard Democrats have had on Comey. He wasn’t the right man for the job until he was fired by Trump, only then did it become a giant scandal.
Pelosi probably didn’t expect those words to come back to bite her. Unlike her, many of us don’t forget such things so easily.
