As soon as Donald Trump won the presidential election, Democrats set out to delegitimize his presidency. First, it was a pathetic attempt to steal the election from him through the electoral college. When that didn’t work, they insisted that the election was hacked by the Russians. From there, everything Trump did was twisted into a scandal.
Of course, this has largely backfired on Democrats. There was never any real evidence to support the Russian meddling claim. Instead, the complete opposite happened. The first time Trump was forced to encounter Putin on an international stage, he chose to drop 59 tomahawk missiles on a Russian ally. Hardly something a president beholden to the Kremlin would do.
The Democratic smear campaign backfired in other ways as well. Instead of bringing to light proof of Russian interference in the election, the investigation revealed that the Obama administration had spied on the Trump transition team. If there was a scandal, it rested with the Democrats.
An investigation into spying on a political opponent would be hard enough for a former president to confront. After all, it was that kind of activity that forced Richard Nixon out of the White House. However, new documents reveal that Obama could be facing yet another scandal just months after leaving office.
From Breitbart:We continue to undercover the details of the Obama IRS’s arbitrary and capricious behavior toward those presumed to be “enemies” of President Obama.
Last week we released 695 pages of new documents containing admissions by IRS officials that the agency used “inappropriate political labels” to screen the tax-exempt applications of conservative organizations. Other records reveal that the IRS was going to require 501(c)(4) nonprofit organizations to restrict their alleged political activities if they opted for “expedited consideration” of their tax-exempt applications. At the time, it was a bombshell that the IRS was using political phrases associated with conservatives to give them additional screening. However, these documents reveal that there are even more layers to the onion. Now, we are getting a glimpse into the tactics the IRS would use once they identified conservative groups:
In short, the Obama IRS, after lawlessly delaying the approval of Tea Party group applications, tried to extort restrictions – which had no basis in law – on these very same groups.
The move may have helped Obama win re-election in 2012. The IRS delayed the applications of many conservative groups well past election season. Whether or not that made the difference can only be a matter of speculation now.
Nevertheless, Democrats continue to try to bog President Trump down in scandals. Meanwhile, their own party is starting to feel the heat. Perhaps soon we’ll be investigating IRS interference in the 2012 election, not Russian meddling in 2016.
