Since Donald Trump was elected, the liberal hysteria has been at a fever pitch. Liberals are so shocked that anyone would have the audacity to disagree with them, they’ve started to simply protest everything. Your candidate didn’t win? Have a protest. The candidate that won the election is being inaugurated? March on Washington. The new president keeps his campaign promises? Flood the airports.
Most of the time, liberal protests and boycotts do nothing but hinder the life of people that have nothing to do with the protests. From obstructing traffic and throwing bricks through windows, to boycotting a company simply because they wanted to continue picking people up at the airport. The only thing liberals have accomplished is to get on people’s nerves. However, that might be about to change. For once, liberals had an idea most of us can get behind. From VOX:
President Donald Trump’s new immigration order — the one many have labeled a “Muslim ban” because it temporarily bars entry to the US for natives of seven Muslim-majority countries — stops people associated with various Oscar-nominated films from attending the 2017 Academy Awards. That’s just one reason the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences should cancel its annual ceremony and instead announce the winners via press release.
Hollywood has been wondering what it can do in the era of Trump, how it can remain creatively relevant while standing up for its beliefs. Canceling the Oscars won’t make Trump rethink his position — but it will count as a massive, public stand on behalf of those without whom Hollywood would not exist.
So let’s get this straight. We can forego the whole ceremony where privileged Hollywood celebrities get up on stage and lecture us about how we should think politically? Here’s one liberal idea that sounds pretty darn good. Actually, this might be the best idea liberals have ever had.
Predictably, reaction on Twitter to the idea was hilarious. Twitchy has a compilation of some of the best reactions. Here’s a few:
So if liberals get their way, we won’t have to listen to people like Meryl Streep get on stage and whine? There’s probably not a conservative anywhere who will disagree with this idea. When can we start the virtue-signalling hashtag campaign?
