UPDATE: CNBC is reporting that nine people have been shot and at least three are dead. According to reports, that the shooter is in custody:
Nine people have been shot and at least three are dead after a shooting at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Friday, local law enforcement and federal officials told NBC News.
The shooter is in custody, and the motive is unknown at this time, law enforcement officials said. The airport tweeted that the incident took place at the Terminal 2 baggage claim area.
Former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer tweeted just minutes ago that shots were fired at Ft. Lauderdale Airport. According to Fleischer, police report five victims so far. CNN has the number at nine victims.
Fleischer, who was tweeting live from the airport updated events as they unfolded. According to Fliescher, police have the suspect in custody and the situation has calmed.

However other sources say the gunman has been killed.
Reaction is already pouring in on Twitter. One user is already blaming the shooting on lax gun laws.
However, at this time the motive is unclear. There has been no indication from authorities whether the shooting is related to terrorism.
