Trump Jr. just dropped MAJOR HINT about particular role for Christie in Trump administration

No sooner had former rival Gov. Chris Christie surprised many by endorsing Donald Trump on Friday than speculation began to swirl around the New Jersey governor’s motives for doing so. Naturally, many assumed Christie is lending his support in exchange for some type of role within a possible Trump administration.

This morning, Donald Trump’s eldest son hinted at what such a role for Christie might be. But if Donald Trump Jr.’s comments are any clue, it doesn’t sound likely that Chris Christie will be Trump’s running mate.

Donald Trump Jr., the oldest son of the Republican presidential front-runner, said Sunday that it’s possible that New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie could have a spot waiting for him in a Trump administration — especially in the real estate tycoon’s Justice Department.

Asked by “Sunday Morning Futures” host Maria Bartiromo whether his father would choose Christie as his running mate, Trump Jr. said that he had not been a part of those conversations but that “the possibility is certainly there.”

“I mean, I think there would certainly be something within the Justice Department for him,” the 38-year-old Trump Jr. added, unprompted.

Christie’s endorsement — which he announced Friday at an event with Trump — was considered something of a surprise given the establishment Republican’s recent criticism of his former competitor. At a campaign event in New Hampshire earlier this month — just before he dropped out of the race — Christie said that while he considered Trump “a good person,” he is “not the right person to be President of the United States and not the person that we’d want representing our country.”

While it’s no surprise that Christie would have criticized the Republican front-runner while he was still in the race, Christie’s change of heart led to speculation that he is endorsing Trump now in order to secure a spot in the billionaire’s administration.

Attorney General has been suggested as the most obvious spot for Christie, who served as U.S. Attorney for New Jersey between 2002 and 2008.

Trump Jr. did circle back to the question of Christie as Vice President, telling Bartiromo that “I think that there’s a lot of opportunities.”

“But I think, again, he’s said it pretty openly — he wants to bring someone in who would be his VP who does have some of that experience in DC.”

Watch:

Besides the fact that Christie doesn’t have particular D.C. experience, as Trump, Jr. suggests, Christie isn’t likely to bring in another key state or area as a running mate. Plus, many Republicans still haven’t forgiven Gov. Christie for his ill-timed embrace of President Obama, following Hurricane Sandy and right before the 2012 election.

Attorney General Christie, however, certainly is easy to imagine. Regardless of your feelings about Christie, can we all agree he’d be a HUGE improvement over the likes of Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch?
