Liberals TERRIFIED this classic TOY leads to gun violence

The increasingly grabby gun-control lobby has a new target: those little plastic bricks called Legos that have been gracing toy bins for generations.

The Huffington Post — no, not The Onion — warns “Lego Sets Are Becoming Much More Violent,” after a new study found the number of Lego weapons has “skyrocketed” since 1970.

As the Huffington Post laments reports:

The study, conducted by the University of Canterbury, looked at the number weapons included in Lego kits produced since 1978 (the first year weapons were available) and the perceived violence in imagery created by the company. It found an “exponential increases of violence over time” in both categories.

While the iconic, brightly colored toy blocks have existed since 1949, the first weapons weren’t introduced until 1978, when a castle kit included “a sword, a halberd, and a lance.”

The number of Lego weapons overall has increased greatly since then. Researchers found that nearly 30 percent of all Lego sets sold today now include at least one weapon. In 1978, that figure was under 5 percent.

The researchers only looked at smaller, pre-manufactured weapons that are one brick large (guns, cannons, swords, etc.) and excluded larger weapons that have to be assembled.

That means the Death Star — which by conventional standards is “certainly a weapon,” the study concedes — isn’t included in the total weapons count. The light saber introduced in the “Star Wars” kit, however, is considered a weapon.

The study also looked at imagery produced by Lego that accompanies the sets, and found it has become more violent as well.

Today, close to 40 percent of all the images in the Lego catalog contain some sort of violence, the study found, with the fastest growth occurring in cases of shooting.

Lego did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Huffington Post, but spokesman Troy Taylor defended the company’s products in a statement to AFP.

“As with other play types, conflict play is a natural part of a child’s development,” he said. “We always try and use humor where possible as it helps tone down the level of conflict.”

Apparently, statistics on the number of annual Lego weapon-caused deaths is unavailable at this time, though no doubt a Dept. of Justice group or progressive NGO is on the case. Makes one wonder how many gang members and terrorists were ruined by a childhood playing with “violent” Legos…

HuffPo laments this trend in these inanimate Lego bricks turning violent as a “sad reflection on society as a whole.”

I (Michelle Jesse), on the other hand, tend to think the sad reflection on society is rather that liberals are worried about things like these inanimate bricks “becoming violent,” along with “safe spaces” and “trigger warnings.” Meanwhile, looking the other way (willful ignorance?) over things like the Obama administration’s “Fast and Furious” gun-running scandal, in which it allowed powerful assault weapons to be sold to Mexican drug cartels.

Come to think of it, both the Lego “study” and Obama’s “Fast and Furious” program are both pointing to the same end: demonizing guns themselves with the ultimate goal of taking away American citizens’ rights to bear (and play with, in the case of Legos) arms.

Thomas Jefferson’s words caution, “eternal vigilance is the price of liberty” comes to mind. Though it sounds ludicrous at first, going after our Legos is no laughing matter in the eternal fight to maintain our 2nd Amendment rights.
