WOW: Obama weighs in on FBI probe; Hillary will be FURIOUS

In the wake of Friday’s stunning news that the FBI had decided to reopen its investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email investigation, the Democrat nominee immediately launched a brutal defense. Which, as is typical for her, is a brutal offense — an all-out attack on the person who dared cross her.

Brushing off a tried-and-true talking point of hers, Hillary immediately accused FBI Director Comey of being in cahoots with the Republican Party.

“We’ve made it very clear that, if they are going to be sending this kind of letter that is only going originally to Republican members of the House, that they need to share whatever facts they claim to have with the American people,” Clinton said on Friday, after initially being blindsided by the FBI’s announcement.

Of course, Hillary was already resorting to a bold-faced lie to defend herself, as Democratic members of Congress also received the letter from the FBI. (A fact that anyone bothering to look could see — though that certainly doesn’t stop her from floating the lie in any case.) It teed up the Democrat nominee’s — and that of the Democrats who immediately rallied around her — chief defense to the scandal blowing up in her face just days before the election. Yep, Hillary Clinton is — once again — the victim of a “vast right-wing conspiracy.” One that now, apparently, even includes the FBI — who is part of Obama’s Department of Justice.

Whereas Democrats had praised Comey in the wake of his July announcement not to recommend charges against Hillary, they’re now coming out in force to condemn him. They’ve accused him of a partisan attempt to influence the election — and have even gone so far as to accuse him of breaking the law. Rich coming from the party for whom illegal activity is a way of life, isn’t it?

This afternoon, Obama’s White House weighed in on the controversy. And Hillary and her supporters must no doubt be furious. As The Hill reports:

The White House on Monday said James Comey is not trying to tip the scales in the presidential election, amid criticism from Democrats over the FBI director’s decision to inform Congress about a new probe into emails possibly related to Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server.

“The president doesn’t believe Director Comey is intentionally trying to influence the outcome of an election,” White House press secretary Josh Earnest told reporters. “The president doesn’t believe he’s secretly strategizing to benefit one candidate or one political party.”

Earnest called Comey “a man of integrity” and a “man of good character” but acknowledged that “he’s in a tough spot” when it comes to the Clinton email probe.

“I’ll neither defend nor criticize what Director Comey has decided to communicate to the public about this investigation,” he added.

Earnest said that the Justice Department’s “expansive” investigative authorities should be tempered by “longstanding tradition, practice, and norms that limit public discussion of facts.”

He declined, however, to say whether those norms were violated in this case.

“The president believes it’s important for those norms and traditions and guidelines to be followed,” he said.

Earnest’s comments are a break with the Clinton campaign and top Democrats in Congress, who have fumed that the FBI director — a Republican — decided to send a letter to lawmakers informing them of the investigation.

Whether intentional or not, the White House comments directly undercut the argument being made by Hillary Clinton herself, along with most other high-profile Democrats. Even as they’re out charging the FBI with partisanship and trying to influence the election, Obama begs to differ.

Does this signal a distancing by President Obama, even as he continues to campaign for the Democrat nominee? Is he hedging his bets so he doesn’t go down in flames with her, should this prove to be as bad as many are saying?

Either way, one can only imagine the scene where Hillary learned of the president’s statement… not pretty.
