JUST IN: ISIS claims responsibility for Nice attack; this happens IMMEDIATELY

To no one’s surprise — well, at least those of us who continue to live in reality — ISIS is claiming responsibility for the Nice attacks that killed 84 people — including 10 children — and wounded 202 others, including 52 people in critical condition and 25 on life support.

This after liberals and their media twisted themselves into new pretzel extremes to blame anything but radical Islam and, specifically, ISIS.

So, of course, they are now doing what they can to distance ISIS from this particular attack — even as the organization has come out and claimed credit.

As The New York Times reports:

The Islamic State claimed responsibility on Saturday for the Bastille Day attack on the seaside promenade in Nice, France, which killed 84 people and injured 202.

“The man behind the running-over operation in Nice, France, is a soldier from the Islamic State, and he carried out the attack to answer the calls for targeting the nationals of countries in the coalition that is fighting Islamic State,” said a statement from a social media account linked to the Amaq News Agency, which bills itself as the terrorist network’s semiofficial news outlet.

Also on Saturday, the SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors jihadist communications, said that the Islamic State had featured its claim of responsibility in a news bulletin on its radio station, Al Bayan, and that it “threatened that ‘crusader states’ are not safe.”

The claim must be greeted with caution. The Islamic State has at times asserted responsibility for attacks carried out in its name, even when there was no indication that the terrorist network had any direct role in planning or carrying out the violence.

[Incidentally, The Wall Street Journal reports that French prosecutors had already said they had little doubt that the militant group had, at the very least, inspired the attack. But nonetheless, the New York Times urges caution.]

The man identified as the attacker in Nice — Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel, 31, a native of Tunisia — had a history of petty crime going back to 2010. He received a six-month suspended sentence this year for assaulting a motorist, he was not on the radar of French intelligence agencies and he seemed more like a surly misfit — who beat his wife, until she threw him out — than a terrorist.

So, just like with the Orlando shooter, the left and its media are doing whatever they can to take the emphasis off radical Islam. Sorry, but it’s a beside the point whether ISIS “had any direct role in planning or carrying out the violence”; the Nice trucker was carrying out directives voiced by ISIS to carry out localized, lone wolf attacks — across Western civilization with particular focus on France. He was shouting “Allahu Akbar” as he did it. Whether he was formally affiliated or not with ISIS the organization, he most certainly would appear to have been inspired by it and its radical Islamic ideology.

But wait, if you’ve been listening to President Obama, you might argue that the Islamic State has nothing to do with Islam.

Sorry to inform the left, but just because you say something is so, doesn’t make it so. Even if half the nation believes it to be true, doesn’t make it so.

Like it or not, ISIS is having a major impact across the globe, whether through direct attacks or inspired, directed attacks. And, like it or not, it has everything to do with radical Islam.
