In the blame game that started just as soon as news broke of this morning’s brutal massacre at a popular gay nightclub in Orlando, we thought we’d heard it all. Never mind that the gunman was an ISIS devotee, who had been on the FBI watch list previously for claiming connections to terrorist groups — and who had made a call specifically to pledge his allegiance to the terror group even as he was carrying out the attack. And that the terror group itself claimed responsibility for today’s massacre.
Of course, for the progressive left, guns are at the center of the firestorm, with progressives from President Obama on down immediately using this tragedy to further their anti-gun agenda. We heard the likes of Planned Parenthood come out and blame “toxic masculinity” and a “global culture of imperialist homophobia” — the meaning of which we’re still struggling to parse.
And, of course, how could we forget that Christian conservatives must be to blame for this attack by radical Islam? It all makes perfect sense… to the American Civil Liberties Union.
As the Washington Examiner reports:
Christian conservatives are responsible for the mass shooting at a gay bar in Orlando because they “created this anti-queer climate,” according to American Civil Liberties Union attorneys.“You know what is gross — your thoughts and prayers and Islamophobia after you created this anti-queer climate,” ACLU staff attorney Chase Strangio tweeted on Sunday morning.
About 50 people were killed last night by Omar Mateen, a U.S. citizen born to Afghan parents suspected to have “leanings toward extreme Islamic ideologies.” The FBI is investigating the attack as a “domestic terror incident.”
But Strangio — who “spend[s his] life fighting Christian homophobia while being loved & supported by [his] Muslim family” — and his colleagues connected the shooting back to Christians and Republican politicians who oppose gay marriage. “The Christian Right has introduced 200 anti-LGBT bills in the last six months and people blaming Islam for this,” Strangio tweeted. “No.”
Another ACLU attorney who specializes in religious liberty issues scolded Republican lawmakers who tweeted out their condolences. “Remember when you co-sponsored extreme, anti-LGBT First Amendment Defense Act?” the ACLU’s Eunice Rho tweeted at Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., and other Republicans.
So, to review, Christian conservatives are to blame for creating an “anti-queer climate” that inspired a gunman who claims allegiance to ISIS — the Islamic State, based on a doctrine that calls for jihad against “infidels” and reserves a special kind of punishment for homosexuals. Really, now we’re blaming Christian conservatives for radical Islam?
As Col. West noted today upon hearing this news, it is already happening… the high command has issued its orders of how to politically cast blame for the Islamic jihadist shooting on the enemies of the progressive socialists and Islamic-fascists. It didn’t take long for the creative writer spin master Ben Rhodes, along with the president’s right-hand man Valerie Jarrett, to come up with and disseminate their message to their willing leftist soldiers.
Be ready for more if this insidious drivel and dismissal.
Indeed, we stand ready — ready to call them out on their treasonous hypocrisy.
