BOOM: Watch Carly Florina Shut Down Chris Matthews and Level Hillary Clinton

If you haven’t already heard, Carly Fiorina was the undisputed winner of yesterday’s so-called “undercard” GOP debate featuring presidential contenders who failed to qualify for the evening’s main event, which was restricted to the top ten candidates in recent polls. You may recall we’d predicted Fiorina’s breakout moment here, thanks to her ability to articulate her ideas in a concise and powerful manner.

Indeed, Fiorina was ON FIRE yesterday, both during the debate and afterwards, when she faced perhaps some of the toughest questions yet from our good ol’ mainstream media. Predictably — and nonetheless astonishingly — Chris Matthews challenged Fiorina on why she used the term “liar” to describe potential presidential opponent Hillary Clinton.

Matthews: You called Hillary Clinton a liar tonight on a number of occasions. Do you want to explain why you would use such a almost end-of-conversation term for your possible opponent next year?”

Fiorina: Because it’s true.

BOOM! What a concept, a presidential candidate simply speaking the truth! Fiorina goes on to strike a popular chord with the American people these days:

Fiorina: You know, one of the things that I think people are tired of in politics – and republicans do it as well – is we don’t use common sense language. We talk in sanitized sound bites. I don’t but most politicians do. People are tired of sanitized sound bites and bumper sticker rhetoric. They want to have a conversation about the real issues. And by any standard common sense measure, Hillary Clinton has lied. About Benghazi, and about her emails and about her server.

Seems pretty clear to me, but Matthews pressed on. Watch Fiorina shut him down:

Once again, Carly Fiorina demonstrates her ability to forcefully yet gracefully — and without anger — to stand up to tough, sometimes adversarial questions and make her case powerfully. She shows us that anger, vitriol and personal attacks are not necessary to make a compelling case (take note, President Obama) — and, in fact, how powerful just the facts in a well-articulated argument are.

Even Matthews couldn’t help but be impressed, closing out the interview noting: “I see why you stood out tonight.

Congratulations to Ms. Fiorina for an outstanding performance — and thank you for showing others how it should be done. Looking forward to seeing much more!
