I suppose just about everyone in this nation is aware that a beautiful, majestic lion named Cecil was tragically shot and killed in Africa by an American big-game hunter.
Yes, it’s very sad. He was a lovely, furry animal.
But apparently, it’s only the lives of lovely, furry animals that folks actually give a crap about.
“Furry lives matter.”
And for all the hoopla about “black lives matter,” they apparently really don’t in the grand scheme of things. Did you know so far 2,589 people have been shot in 2014 in Chicago alone? And so far this year, 1,560 people — the vast majority of whom are black — have been shot?
This year, Chicago hit the horrific 1,000 shootings milestone sooner than in 2014, 2013, and 2012.
And just to put that number in perspective — the 2,589 figure — The website iCasualties.org lists, as of May 24, 2015, 2,259 service members as having died in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan since 2001.
I’m sad that Cecil the lion is dead. Poor lion.
But I am incensed that thousands of black lives don’t really matter to liberals, or Al Sharpton or the mainstream media because they have no political purpose. Black lives only matter when their death can be used to further an agenda. That to me is horrific.
