Taqiyya? State Dept. admits lying about meeting with Muslim Brotherhood

As you may recall, we reported last week about a delegation of Muslim Brotherhood leaders meeting at the U.S. State Department to discuss their ongoing efforts to oppose the current government of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi of Egypt. Well, of course they oppose him – he had the nerve to call them a “terrorist organization.” Silly al-Sisi!

After all, just because two days after that meeting the Muslim Brotherhood issued a statement calling for jihad and two days after THAT conducted a major terror attack in the Sinai region killing at least 25 doesn’t make them a terrorist organization. Of course not.

And that jihad statement? Fuhgeddaboudit:

“It is incumbent upon everyone to be aware that we are in the process of a new phase, where we summon what is latent in our strength, where we recall the meanings of jihad and prepare ourselves, our wives, our sons, our daughters, and whoever marched on our path to a long, uncompromising jihad, and during this stage we ask for martyrdom.”

(I never understand why we don’t oblige the folks asking for martyrdom – but back to the story at hand).

So anyway this non-terrorist group was hosted by the State Department, and in typical Obama administration fashion, the circumstances of the meeting were fabricated.

As the Free Beacon writes, “The State Department admitted on Monday that it misled reporters about a recent delegation of Muslim Brotherhood leaders and allies who were hosted for a meeting with officials at Foggy Bottom.”

I love the way it says “misled,” the kinder, gentler way to say taqiyya.

And by the way, just in case you haven’t heard that word before, here is the meaning, courtesy of TheReligionofPeace.com:

There are two forms of lying to non-believers that are permitted under certain circumstances, taqiyya and kitman. These circumstances are typically those that advance the cause Islam – in some cases by gaining the trust of non-believers in order to draw out their vulnerability and defeat them.

So with that in mind, Jen Psaki, State Department spokeswoman, originally claimed the meeting had been organized and funded by Georgetown University. However the university said that wasn’t the case when contacted by the Washington Free Beacon.

In a conference with reporters on Monday, Psaki said, “Unfortunately, I didn’t have the accurate information on one small piece. The meeting was set up by the Center for the Study of Islam and Democracy, a nonprofit. So the visit was not funded, as you know, by us or the U.S. Government, but it was also not funded by Georgetown.”

Ah ok. Riiight.

When asked if the administration is “comfortable with continuing to do business with this center, this group” Psaki responded, “yes, yes.”

So I guess that’s a “yes” then.

These statements didn’t sit too well with the Egyptian Foreign Ministry who “condemned the visit and expressed frustration with the State Department for hosting the Brotherhood-aligned delegation, which was first reported by the Free Beacon.”

“These statements are incomprehensible to me, we do not understand that there will be such a communication with the elements involved in terrorist acts to intimidate the Egyptians,” Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri was quoted as saying in the regional press.”

“The Brotherhood is not a political party,” but “a terrorist organization,” Shukri said.”

But the State Department is cool with all that.

Are you?
