Score one for GOP: Look what media forced to do on West Point story

It doesn’t happen very often, but when conservatives score one against the liberal press, it’s time to do a happy dance.

As you’re no doubt aware, Politico unleashed a fairly vicious hit piece against Dr. Ben Carson yesterday saying he completely fabricated part of his personal biography involving the Military Academy at West Point.

As Breitbart reports, “The story, bearing the byline of reporter Kyle Cheney, now omits the original version’s declarations that Carson’s statements were false or fraudulent, as seen in an archive of the article.

The original headline reads: “Ben Carson admits fabricating West Point scholarship.”

The article’s original first paragraph reads:

Ben Carson’s campaign on Friday admitted, in a response to an inquiry from POLITICO, that a central point in his inspirational personal story was fabricated: his application and acceptance into the U.S. Military Academy at West Point
.

Of course that was liberal spin at its best. As we reported yesterday, from Carson’s own reply on Sean Hannity’s radio show, “I remember very specifically that because of my rapid rise, I was told that they could get me into West Point and I would never have to pay a penny. I was very flattered by that but I said I want to become a doctor, it’s always been my dream. So even though I’m very honored, thank you, I didn’t pursue that.”

Carson refutes a key point in the Politico story — that West Point doesn’t have a record of him even applying, confirming that he never did.

“No I didn’t. I quashed it right away. I said I was very honored, but I’m going to be a doctor.”

As a result, Politico has been forced to update the headline now saying, “Exclusive: Carson claimed West Point ‘scholarship’ but never applied.”

YAWN.

The updated story says, “When presented by POLITICO with these facts, Carson’s campaign conceded he never applied.”

Um, he never said he applied. He just said he was offered. Like fifty years ago.

No doubt the liberal media will continue to try to dig up some scandal or dirt about Ben Carson. Clearly they are petrified of him, and his rapid rise in the polls.

But the blatant double standard in the media is so completely disgusting. Obama and Clinton get pass after pass after pass on their lies, but the liberal media goes into apoplectic shock because they can’t find one person who remembers Ben Carson having violent outbursts as a 14-year old.

Gimme a break!
