This morning, a terrible tragedy occurred on live television as Alison Parker, a 24-year-old reporter and her her cameraman, 27-year-old Adam Ward from local news station WDBJ in Roanoke, Virginia were killed by a shooter that appeared during a live news interview. The shooting occurred at Smith Mountain Lake, a water park, in Moneta, Virginia.

As CNN reports, The gunman is believed to have fired six or seven times, WDBJ General Manager Jeff Marks said.

“We do not know the motive. We do not know who the killer is,” Marks said. “We do know the Franklin County sheriff … they are working very diligently to track down both the motive and the person responsible for this terrible crime against two fine journalists,” he said during the station’s coverage of the shooting.

No suspect is in custody, but this screen grab from the video appears to show the shooter, as the cameraman fell to the ground.
