Religious activist says individuals should be “very visibly punished” for God and country Army recruiting poster

We’ve reported here about the frequent and successful attempts by Mikey Weinstein and his Military Religious Freedom Foundation to eliminate God and Christian symbols from the U.S. Military. He really must be a cranky man, because there’s so much he finds offensive and disturbing.

Anyway, in this latest instance, the Military Religious Freedom Foundation complained to the Army Recruiting Command about a poster outside a Phoenix, Arizona recruiting station, which included the phrase, “On a mission for both God and country.”

According to Army Times, “the poster, which features a Special Forces patch along with Ranger, Airborne and Special Forces tabs, includes “a stock image” the command makes available for local recruiters, spokesman Brian Lepley said in an email, “but the text was changed by the local recruiting personnel” and not cleared by command headquarters.”

“Had the process been followed, the copy shown would not have been approved,” Lepley said.”

Ok, fair enough. But here are two particularly disturbing things about this story.

1. The command first became aware of the poster Friday morning when it received questions about the display from Army Times – according to Army Times. So Army Times is now aiding and abetting this nonsense? I guess we know what side they’re on.

And speaking of taking sides…

2.After the poster was removed, Mikey Weinstein was quoted by Army Times as saying, “whoever, in any way, shape or form, allowed that poster to be designed, prepared and displayed, those individuals should be aggressively investigated and very visibly punished.”

Very visibly punished, Mikey? You mean just like ISIS very visibly punishes folks who don’t share their religious beliefs?

Is this the sort of very visible punishment you’d like?

Why do you even bother having the words “religious freedom” in your organization’s name? Seems like you have about as much tolerance in your bones as those folks with the black flag.
