Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps has now won an insane 21 gold medals – his last two being Tuesday night in Rio. A-mazing. However, of course to our president, Barack Hussein Obama, the most notable thing about our Team USA isn’t the prowess of our Olympians but the fact we have a female Muslim competitor fencing in a hijab (who by the way, almost immediately went down in flames and left the arena in tears).
But for now we can all share the pride of Michael Phelps’ victories. We must report that Michael Phelps had a laugh as the National Anthem was played on the podium during the gold medal ceremony last night. Should that dim our pride? Not at all.
As the Baltimore Sun reports, During the medal ceremony, Phelps was emotional, the swell of pride and relief too much to hide. He held back tears as “The Star-Spangled Banner” played. Then the national anthem got to that point in the tune that Baltimoreans at home and abroad, Phelps among them, await with gleeful anticipation. You know the one.
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there …
And then a very Baltimore thing happened.
Apparently, someone in the stands shouted “Oh” during the next line “Oh say does that star-spangled banner yet wave…”

O!” indeed. Let’s break this down, frame by frame.
Here’s Phelps before someone yelled out “O!” He’s basically on the verge of Crying Jordan-ing this podium.
Since the 1970’s, Baltimore Orioles fans have shouted “OH” during the pre-game national anthem. It’s a “very Baltimore thing.”
