Just hours after Flynn resigns, Kellyanne reveals…

While some had believed retired LTG Michael Flynn’s days as National Security Adviser were numbered almost from the beginning, his resignation last night still came as a bombshell. After less than a month on the job, he became the shortest serving senior presidential adviser in modern history.

CNN reports, His departure came just after reports surfaced that the Justice Department warned the Trump administration last month that Flynn misled administration officials regarding his communications with the Russian ambassador to the United States and was potentially vulnerable to blackmail by the Russians.

“I inadvertently briefed the Vice President-elect and others with incomplete information regarding my phone calls with the Russian ambassador. I have sincerely apologized to the President and the Vice President, and they have accepted my apology,” Flynn wrote, according to a copy of his resignation letter obtained by CNN.

Hours before his resignation, Conway had said Flynn had the full confidence of the president, but as the day unfolded, that confidence waned considerably, and by the end of the day, it was too late.

Appearing on NBC’s Today Show this morning, Kellyanne Conway said, “In the end, it was misleading the vice president that made the situation unsustainable,” Conway told TODAY’s Matt Lauer.

“The incomplete information or the inability to completely recall what did or did not happen as reflected in his debriefing of particular phone calls — that really is what happened here,” she said.

Flynn’s departure comes less than a month into the job and follows revelations about information he shared with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak over American sanctions against Russia in late December, weeks before Trump took office.

“He knew he had become a lightening rod and he made that decision,” Conway said.

On TODAY, Conway was asked repeatedly why, despite reports that the Justice Department told the White House last month that Flynn had misled them and even put himself at risk for blackmail, he continued to retain the president’s full trust.

Conway said Flynn continued to be a part of daily presidential briefings as recently as Monday but “as time wore on, obviously, the situation had become unsustainable.”

She said that the president accepted Flynn’s resignation and “wishes him well, and we’re moving on,” noting three “very strong candidates” the administration is considering to replace him.

Of course, after scoring “first blood” in the Trump administration, the left is celebrating.

Even NBC reports, There was barely-concealed glee in some quarters over the departure of Flynn — an outspoken opponent of political correctness who last year wrote on Twitter that “fear of Muslims is rational.”

Republican Rep. Bill Flores of Texas said he was “glad” Flynn had gone, adding: “We need more sanctions on Russia, not fewer!”

Rep. Adam Schiff of California, the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee — which is investigating the Trump campaign’s alleged contacts with Russia — said Flynn’s resignation was “all but ordained the day he misled the country about his secret talks with the Russian ambassador.”

Multiple sources are saying National Security Council Chief of Staff General Keith Kellogg will take up the lead position on an interim basis. Other names being floated for the job include retired Gen. David Petraeus and former Vice Admiral Bob Harward.

But of course Petraeus comes with a full set of baggage as well, so we shall see how that pans out.

Less than a month into his term and the president has already hit some fairly large speed bumps. We all know the Democrats will do everything they possibly can to impede his progress. He doesn’t need any more “unforced errors” going forward.
