Clinton campaign issues LUDICROUS “admission” about classified emails

Apparently this little problem with Hillary Clinton’s email server and what was on it is actually getting serious – serious enough for her presidential campaign organization to start issuing statements about it.

Now that the FBI has said it can probably recover whatever was wiped off the server (and considering it had been kept in the bathroom, maybe you can’t blame her for wanting to wipe it), the Clinton campaign yesterday came out and admitted that yes, Mrs. Clinton’s private server, which she used while serving as secretary of state, did indeed contain classified information.

BUT!

The information wasn’t classified as classified THEN. It has been “retroactively classified out of an abundance of caution by U.S. intelligence agencies” as the Wall Street Journal puts it. Ohhhhhh, well in THAT case we can all forget about this and go home, right?

“She was at worst a passive recipient of unwitting information that subsequently became deemed as classified,” said Brian Fallon, a spokesman for Mrs. Clinton’s campaign.

Pointing to two emails that helped spark the FBI probe, the Clinton campaign said State Department officials considered the material unclassified at the time it was sent. The controversy, said Mr. Fallon, amounts to a dispute between different agencies within the Obama administration about what constitutes classified material and what should be released publicly.

When it comes to classified information, the standards are not at all black and white,” said Mr. Fallon on a conference call with reporters.

By black and white I guess he means kind of like right and wrong, or fact and fiction – all concepts with which the Clinton machine seems to have a spot of bother.

The Journal says, the two emails in question were written by lower-ranking State Department officials and forwarded to Mrs. Clinton by top aides Jake Sullivan and Huma Abedin, who both now work for her Democratic presidential campaign.

However, an inspector general for the intelligence community said earlier this year he found four emails containing material that were classified at the time they were written.

One thing is for certain. As the net tightens around Mrs. Clinton and her associates, they’ll need to come up with some better excuses.
