The man accused of shooting six people has been identified as Nathan Desai. He was killed by police.

Heavy.com says The Houston Police Department says that a total of nine people were injured during the shooting. Three of those people were treated at the scene after suffering injuries related to glass. Of those who were wounded, one person is in fair condition, one in critical condition and the rest have been described as being in “good condition.”

Initial reports said police scanner reports had identified the shooter as black – we now know that is not the case.

The Journal News reported earlier this morning, “We know that he has been neutralized,” Houston Assistant Fire Chief Richard Mann said. “He is no longer a threat to the public.”

Authorities were called to a report of a shooting around 6:30 a.m. Responding firefighters, who arrived at the scene of the shooting within three minutes, discovered the active shooting situation. They took cover and called for backup, Mann said.

Witnesses reported hearing more than two-dozen gunshots over the course of at least 15 minutes,KPRC reported.

Mann said at least six people were shot while inside cars. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known.

There are conflicting reports as to whether or not Desai was a “disgruntled” lawyer who had a dispute with his former business partner.

Fox reports, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner said the gunman “appeared to be a disgruntled lawyer who took out his anger and frustration on individuals,” KHOU reported.

Asked if the shooting was an act of terrorism, interim police chief Martha Montalvo said “I’m not ready to confirm that.”
