If you want to understand how completely messed up our culture has become, just take a look at the event MIT hosted last night. (Oh darn. We missed it).
Yes, the MIT Global Studies and Language department actually hosted a forum on the subject of: Is Islamophobia accelerating global warming.
We kid you not. Here’s the actual page promoting the event.
And here’s how the event was billed by the “Ecology and Justice Forum:”
This talk examines the relation between Islamophobia as the dominant form of racism today and the ecological crisis. It looks at the three common ways in which the two phenomena are seen to be linked: as an entanglement of two crises, metaphorically related with one being a source of imagery for the other and both originating in colonial forms of capitalist accumulation. The talk proposes a fourth way of linking the two: an argument that they are both emanating from a similar mode of being, or enmeshment, in the world, what is referred to as ‘generalised domestication.’ HUH?
Does any of that make sense to you? Clearly my lowly San Diego State University degree did not prepare me for the intellectual rigors of understanding the concept of “enmeshment, in the world, what is referred to as ‘generalised domestication.’”
We better watch what we say here on allenbwest.com about global warming or the Obama administration thought police will be after us with a lawsuit, as they’ve done against other conservative organizations and corporations who refuse to bow at the altar of man-caused climate change.
And by the way, clearly the next cause we will be forced to accept is the concept of gender fluidity. It’s already happening before our very eyes.
