Donald Trump not only captured the presidency, but the hearts and minds of average, blue collar working Americans, which is what enabled him to defeat Hillary Clinton and flip several Democratic states.
Some might say that doesn’t make sense, seeing as how he’s in the upper echelons of rich, while those in the middle class struggle to live paycheck to paycheck.
Well, the truth is, Trump is able to bridge that gap by connecting with these individuals in different ways, like affirming that their thoughts are valid, that their beliefs don’t make them one of the “isms” that liberals love to chuck at anyone who doesn’t share their warped worldview.
The Donald also has a very strong, pro-American lens through which he views politics, and that’s a fact that was put clearly on display after a recent phone call the president-elect made to the family of slain San Antonio police officer Benjamin Marconi.
Marconi was murdered Sunday morning during a traffic stop.
According to The Daily Wire, Marconi’s son, Dane, posted on Facebook, “Just got off the phone with future president Trump, he sends his condolences to our family.” Trump’s team has said nothing about the call thus far. This isn’t the first such call for Trump post-election. Shortly after the election, Trump called the widow of murdered NYPD Sgt. Paul Tuozzolo to offer condolences. “I’m very sorry I cannot be there with you today. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time,” Trump reportedly said.
Let’s contrast this behavior with that of Barack Obama, who, on occasion called the families of slain officers, but made it routine practice to contact the loved ones of black individuals who were killed by police in questionable situations.Obama politicized these incidents every opportunity he could get, even using the funeral service for several murdered Dallas cops to scold police officers across the country.
Clearly, and this is sure to surprise a few folks, Donald Trump has far more class in his little finger than Obama has in his entire being.
The only thing Obama seemed to care about was furthering the progressive agenda. He never let a good crisis go to waste. That’s not the vibe one gets from Trump.
Let’s hope the president-elect will continue to demonstrate class and poise during his time in the White House, restoring respect to the office.
