One of the things folks admire most about President Trump is that he is a man who speaks his mind openly and honestly, something rare in DC these days.
Our newest commander in chief recently fired a few verbal missiles in the direction of one of the most disliked members of Congress in Washington: Nancy Pelosi.
Pelosi is responsible for launching this war with the president by accusing him of putting Wall Street ahead of the average American, and instilling fear in the hearts of citizens toward immigrants.
Trump’s response was classic.
Fox News reports:President Trump returned fire at House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi in an exclusive interview Tuesday, calling the California Democrat “incompetent” and forecasting the dissolution of the Democratic Party on her watch. Trump’s remarks, during an interview with “Fox & Friends,” came in response to Pelosi’s charge Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” that the Trump administration has “done nothing except put Wall Street first, make America sick again, instill fear in our immigration population in our country and make sure Russia maintains its grip on our foreign policy.”
Trump shot back with typical bravado.
“Well, I’ve been watching Nancy’s tape, and so I think she’s incompetent, actually,” Trump said. “You know, if you look at what’s going on with the Democrats and the party, it’s getting smaller and smaller.”
A Pelosi spokesman countered Trump in a statement later Tuesday morning, accusing the president of “projecting his incompetence” onto the lawmaker.
“As Leader Pelosi stated yesterday, this President came into office promising bold action on jobs. Forty days later, the American people see nothing but a squandered four weeks in which this President has done nothing but instill fear,” Drew Hammill said. “In classic fashion, the President is projecting his incompetence on to others. Instead of calling people names, President Trump should focus on how he’s going to grow the American economy and live up to the promises he’s made to the American people.”
Like it or not, if you start a war of words with Donald Trump, you’re likely to get destroyed in the most brutal way imaginable, which is precisely what happened to Pelosi.
It’s one thing to disagree with a person’s policy positions and agenda, it’s another thing to spout off lies — deliberately — as a means of keeping your job.
Contrary to what Nancy Pelosi says, illegal immigration is a serious problem in our country, and our health care system is in desperate need of an overhaul, particularly one that includes the repeal and replacement of Obamacare, with something that encourages competition.
This is just one more reason we should be looking forward to the day Pelosi decides to retire.
