It’s not exactly a secret that celebrities desperate to take advantage of our modern obsession with “activism” in order to stay relevant absolutely LOATHE President Donald Trump.
Not a day goes by that we don’t hear from some Hollywood blowhard blabbing on and on about how evil, racist, and misogynistic Trump is.
While every American has the right to express their dislike of a politician and his policies, there is a certain line of human decency that shouldn’t be crossed.
Rapper Snoop Dogg, of course, crossed that line — and then some — with his latest music video.
According to The Washington Times:Snoop Dogg shoots a toy gun at a clown dressed as President Trump in a new music video for “Lavender.” The 45-year-old rapper said the song, named after the original “BADBADNOTGOOD” collaboration featuring Kaytranada, is a response to the “clowns” in power who supposedly profit off the struggles of the black community.
In the video, directed by Jesse Wellens, Snoop Dogg points a gun at parody Trump’s head and pulls the trigger, causing a “BANG” flag to shoot from the barrel. In a later scene, parody Trump is seen bound by chains as he tries in vain to score a hit off Snoop Dogg’s blunt.
“The whole world is clownin’ around,” Snoop Dogg told Billboard in an interview about the video Sunday, “if you really look at some of these [expletive], they are clowns.”
He continued, “The ban that this [expletive] tried to put up; him winning the presidency; police being able to kill [expletive] and get away with it; people being in jail for weed for 20, 30 years and [expletive] that’s not black on the streets making money off of it — but if you got color or ethnicity connected to your name, you’ve been wrongfully accused or locked up for it, and then you watching people not of color position themselves to get millions and billions off of it.
The word “tasteless” doesn’t even begin to cover this, and regardless of whether it’s a “parody” of the president or not, he’s essentially expressing a desire to shoot him in the head.
Now think of the massive outrage that would’ve ensued had a conservative entertainer done something like this with a clown dressed up like Obama…
There would’ve been riots in the streets, not to mention the word “racist” would’ve been thrown around at breakneck speed.
You can insult the president and hate on his policies all day long. That’s part of freedom of expression. However, portraying someone’s murder, and in such a nonchalant way, is just going too far, regardless of who’s living in the White House.
Maybe one day, when the forty-something Snoop Dogg actually grows up, he’ll actually figure out how to express himself like an adult.
